Yes, that seems to be an 'optomistic' price, but.........
That one is a 1940's Athol, the 'high water mark' in quality, along with the 'four bolt' Reed vises. you can't buy a new one of that quality, at any price.
If, as appears to be, its the 'smooth jaw' version, its a desirable rarity. (I have one of its twin siblings here, which I use on my TIG welding bench.)
If its really in as good unworn condition as it would appear from the photo, it would be a good investment for someone who uses and appreciates best quality tools. (yes, it seems too much $ now, but amortised over literally 'a life-time' if used carefully, it could be cost-effective)
(in the mid-1960's, I could....and did.....buy a model A Ford which was in good running condition for $250........what are those selling for today?)
