I have rebuilt an Atlas 1020 drill press and only need the pulleys to finish up the project. My idea is to buy a set from Grainger, MSI or similar supply store and rebore to what I need to fit the motor and spindle.

Has anyone done this or have any better ideas? Thanks.

Are the shafts splined or what? Sometimes you can find a good deal on ebay for step pulleys if you know the size and shaft type you need.

No, the shafts are not splined, the spindle is just like the motor shaft, round with a keyway. The spindle is two parts, the splined part runs up and down in the second part that the pulley attaches to. I think that a pair of pulleys would be easy enough to buy and bore out to the correct size, the keyway(s) being the harder part to cut if used.
