I have an Atlas 1120 drill press, circa 1940's. Today, this plastic quill drive coupling broke on me. I wouldn't have expected a tool of this vintage to have a plastic coupling, but it did. Is this unobtanium and is my drill press done for? Ideas?

Pretty much unobtanium. P/N is probably 702-012, and should have two wings to engage the drive. Best bet is using a 3D printer to make a new one out of one of the tougher filaments. Even on OWWM, there aren't any listed, going back years.

Technically, an 1120 is a table with two 1020 heads on it.

From surfing machinists forums, I am told that Clausing (who took over Atlas) will send you the part drawing if the part is no longer made. At least this is what they have done for lathe parts which is where I learned this.

Anything that has been made before can be made again, although it would be a lot of work. If I had the drawings, I'd make a single tooth broach and broach the internal shape one groove at a time. Then I'd machine the outside, whatever that looked like. Of course, 3D printing would be a lot easier.
