I drove to Indy this weekend and picked up two 9KOH's for the shop. Once GSE realized I was serious, everything went super smooth. I was pleased with the price I paid and they got me loaded pretty quick.

Got them off the trailer and vertical tonight. Tried to get some pics but lighting wasn't good enough.

I had mocked it up but am very pleased with how spacious my relatively small shop still feels with the posts in there. With the lifts I'll be able to easily get 4 cars in my 22 x 28 shop. Pics coming tomorrow.

Posts are pretty well in their final resting spot waiting for assembly tomorrow.

Since I didn't have the room to place them side by side, the middle posts are in a line down the center of the shop.

More pics tomorrow as they go together.

I have the Atlas 9KOH as well from GSE. The guy who installed it said it was very easy and he was suprised by the quality for the cost of the lift. I've had mine for about 6 months now and I love it.

Got the lifts plumbed and leveled and bolted down this weekend. Got the cables hooked up on one. If I get the electrical subpanel hooked up on Friday should have one lift running by the weekend.

My wife took a vacation day today and insulated the garage walls all by herself. Here's a couple of pics showing her handiwork and the lifts in their final spots.

Not a ton of room for two lifts, but so far working out well. For day to day parking of the daily drivers, the lifts posts aren't in the way at all. Parking is pretty easy. It will be a little worse when the arms are on, but still should be reasonable.

Two lifts in a tight space was the only way I was going to have covered parking for four cars should I want to.

I've been very pleased with the ease of install on the lift. The worst was getting everything squared and level, but that's probably true of any building project. Get the foundation right and everything else is relatively easy.

Making slow, but steady progress. Got some more OSB up today. Got the cables hooked up on both lifts and the arms on one. Talked to the electrician and we are doing the subpanel Friday and should have at least one lift wired.

Will be getting the power unit and the lines hooked up tomorrow or Thursday. Should have one lift up and running Friday or Saturday.

I'll try to get some progress pics tomorrow.

I have decided on the paint scheme. The lower four feet will be a charcoal grey, the upper part of the walls white, and a red chair rail seperating them. I plan to get the OSB painted white pretty quick so that it doesn't get dirty requiring more prep. The grey may wait a while.

Here's a pic of my car so you can see the inspiration for the paint scheme.

When you get the power in ,raise the lift,an see IF you could live with the arms up in the air . ( on Safety locks )

I store mine "UP " an find I can walk under the arms, no trip hazard n the floor.

On the outside edges, the bolts are closer than recommended, but I'm not too worried. The slab is contained by the outside wall and I can't see it going anywhere.

In addition, the roof structure was over built to help. The outside columns are lag bolted to the roof rafter, so the column will have to shear off a lag or try to force the rafter to move.

Got both lifts wired and up and running. Need to do some cleaning now to clear up the most space around them.

I still need to secure the lines on the lift on the left.

To make everything fit, I had to mount the power units to the wall. Works out very nicely.

Very pleased with the lifts so far. Will know more as I use them more of course, but so far so good.

The trans am should be coming home later in the day.

Thanks to whoever suggested storing them in the up position. Got both stored that way right now and it works very well.

Thanks for the compliments. My wife is definitely a keeper. She has helped me build the garage. It was 20 degrees out and windy and she helped me set the roof rafters in half a day. Helped me deck it the next.

She put up with me when I wanted to build my own pool and helped every step of the way. Worked out well that we have installed 5 over the last two summers as others seem to like them.

She helped me build the TA out of 6 cars. Out first vacation was driving from MO to GA to get the rust free body shell. When we were installing the motor, the oil pan got scratched and she didn't complain when we pulled it back out to re paint the pan. We were installing the interior after getting it back from pain and she was stanind up in the car through the T-Tops. She slipped and hit the roof. She's bleeding from the mouth and the first thing she says is "did I hurt the paint."

I want to build some drive on ramps for one of the lifts. The ramps will be modeled after the drive on ramps of a four post lift. The biggest reason I want ramps is for the ease of on and off. Don't want to have to set the arms every time I need to store the trans am. I can see why I didn't find any commercial ramps for a two post lift. If you are not careful I can imagine you could create enough leverage to dump the ramps and car off the arms. To combat this, there will be stop blocks to position the car so that the wheels are spaced evenly in front/back of the pick up points. In addition the lift pads come off leaving a through hole. The ramps will have a 3/4 inch bolted welded to the bottom side that drops through each hole and bolts the ramps to the arms. If I don't like how this looks when its mocked up, then we will build in two steel straps that go under the arms and bolt to each side of the ramps locking the arms and ramps together.

I did look at a four post and 2 post combo, but the four post takes up so much more room. When you see the pics with 3 cars in the garage, the posts and lifts aren't really in the way. No more so than garages with a center post in them, although my post is a little bigger. We can get from my woodshop/workshop to the side door with out any of the vehicles in the way.

Hello AKA Larry,

I am seriously thinking of buying this lift. I am wondering if you are sill happy with it? Also I am 6-2" do you think it would pose a problem for me to work under a fully lifted car. I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
Rick

Hey Rick. Yes, I'm still totally happy with my Atlas lift. I'm also 6'-2" and can stand under a fully lifted car with no issues.

I bought my 9koh from GS about 4 years ago and love it.

The only thing I did was to move the motor from the end of the post to the side of the post to give me more room to walk around it.
