This lift has one piece columns and you are to lay them down and install cables, hoses, and top bar and then raise it into position. How would you do it? I think its going to take at least 4 strong guys and then it could go on over it not careful. I thought about a cable and winch but this is in a pole barn and I dont want to bust a pole or risk breaking a truss. Total shipping weight was 1408 and the power unit and arms are put on after its up. How would you guys do it safely?

I watched two guys do mine. Only diff. They had on trailer. Set foot plate on slab and heaved it onto its own plate. Rocked into position and bolted down.

I've seen lift guys install them at work a few times. They use a small forklift and some wide straps. Maybe look into renting one for the day?

I just watched a video from Popular Mechanics Garage installing the same lift, they used 9 guys, and said they had 6 inch concrete but drilled through at about 5 by my estimation and didnt blow out dust from hole. Will check out your profile page koditten, thanks!

koditten,it appears as if you put the columns up first then the top bar,I am doing it all together like the instructions show. I have seen them done one at a time at work, one guy stood one column up off a trailer and walked it by rocking it side to side.

The ones I've seen done, they put up the columns then the top bar. Raising the whole thing at once is a lot to handle.

I used a lift to lift mine.

Extra tall 168 Bendpak. Once up I could roll it around easily on 1/4 rod. (see picture) I installed everything by myself but the top bar. you will need help for that. Or a hoist.

What equipment do you have available? I used a tractor with a loader for mine. But a bobcat or a forklift would work. Engine crane? hi-lift jack. Let us know what we have to work with. I also did mine one post at a time. Too much to handle as one piece.

That's how I did mine. I slid the base end off the end of the trailer, then lifted the top.

I installed the lift only using hand tools.

Agreed. That's what I did. Lifted each column up then walked the cross bar up on a ladder.

I suppose you could rent something to lift it as an assembly but seems like more of a hassle to me as it's not hard to work on in an upright position.

I stood the colums up and attached a saftey rope to the rafter in case it decided to tip. I then attached the top bar tightened it down and then adjusted the colums and bolted them down. I did it this way because I was concerned the bolt holes on top wouldent line up. I had just one other guy and no lifting equipment.

The columns, cables and hoses and top plate are already done now, I have a floor jack and cherry picker (engine hoist). Was considering a winch bolted to floor pulling a lever attached to top beam of lift. This is how they did it in video.
