Looking for some help and guidance from my Garage Journal family. Have an opportunity to bid on a 2011 Atlas Copo GX4 rotary compressor. Listing doesn't give much info. Does state that it has 16217 hrs on the unit, 53 gallon, 230 and single phase. Been trying to do some research on this unit, but haven't had much luck. Appears it is a discontinued model. Didn't find anything on the GJ search.

So hoping someone out there has some experience with this unit.

Wondering about the longevity of the unit 16K + hrs seems like a lot to me, but maybe they last 50K hrs. Not sure.

I have a limited budget. Current bid is around $250. I know it would be overkill for my shop, but if I can get a good deal......

Any help/guidance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you are going to use this in a home shop then I would stay away from a rotary compressor. Rotary compressors need to be run +60% in order to keep the coolant hot and water out of the coolant.

Atlas Copco makes really good compressors, and I wouldn't worry at all about 16k hours on the airend (compression module).

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the 60%+ run time for a rotary. I won't be using it that much, so I guess I will stay from it even tho it may be a great buy.
