Atlas Lawn Mower Adapter

Anyone here ever buy/user the Atlas Lawn Mower Adapter for a two post lift, to store a car?

I am thinking it may be a good way to make a 2-post lift a parking/storage lift when not doing maintenance. I just am not sure if it can really lift up to a 5000lb car.

I have a small garage (with enough overhead for a 2-post or 4-post) and would like something to serve the functions of a maintenance lift and a parking/storage lift. I have cars that the engine must be dropped out of to remove, thus a 4-post lift will now allow my the width to do engine drops.

I also need to store 3 cars in my 2-car space.
What are your thoughts and/or experiences with parking a car on a2-post for storage (on the wheels, not the lift-points)

FYI, I am planning on a BendPak 2-post lift IF I go that route (I won't buy a non-certified lift).

I am guessing that at 90" maximum wheelbase the lifting capacity is not close to 5K. and considering a Smart Car's wheel base is 71" not sure you could get a "real" car on that set up. I have seen these type of adapters for two posts but not "wheel' supports.

Whats wrong with just storing it on the lift points... Only takes a few seconds to position them.

I think that 90" maximum thing is only for their crummy lift used in the picture, I calculated that the BendPak should allow for a ~105" wheelbase or so (my cars are 82.7", 96.5", 103" and 108"). With the Bendpak it will also only reduce the lifting capacity to ~7000lbs, so that shouldn't be a worry as far as the lift itself goes. just not sure how strong the platform of 1/4" steel bolted together is.

As for storing on lift points, I'm from the school of thought that a suspension was designed for compression not tension.

If you take the wheels off while in storage mode, you really don't have that much weight on the suspension corners.

Or get two lifts - one for storage (one or four post) and one for maintenance (2 post). That probably wouldn't cost a whole lot more than a 2-post plus mower adaptor...?

Those trays don't look heavy enough to park cars on ....But if the car is less than a 90" wheelbase it couldn't weigh too much anyway. A tiny car may work but that's about it................
