Been wanting a small press, picked up a ridiculously huge Dake compound recently for cheap but still needed a smaller one. Grabbed this for $ 10 and a quick road trip tonight. Look forward to cleaning it up and getting some use out of it.

Marked Atlas, but looks to have the same casting as my Dake.
It should clean up nicely, can't wait to see the results.

Certain that I read somewhere on one of the press threads that Dake acquired Atlas at some point. They do appear very similar.

My handle is bent to ****, but I guess my 12 ton compound Dake can handle that duty.

That's correct....Dake bought "Atlas Press" back in the day and they kept the design going on many and parts are available. I have that same model.

Figured i may as well document the restoration. The cupped wire brush treatment may have worked well enough, but went with electrolysis.

Saw the ratcheting mod online where people are grinding off two teeth here to allow the ram to be raised and ratcheted when the lever is not in an advantageous position for good leverage.

Seems this could be done also after the teeth with a relief ground out. Trying hard to find any negatives from this mod but haven't. Am i overlooking some negative??

Also, my ram can be flipped and the other side has a hole drilled, i would assume for punches etc.
