The clockspring for my Atlas No.64 drill press (the spring in the quill) is broken and I need a replacement. So far, I've been unsuccessful in locating one the correct size and would appreciate a lead on one that will fit.

i bought one for my walker turner on amazon it was about $10, mine used a pin on the shaft to attach it where some other has a slot in the shaft the spring engages into, found the right style and just bought it based on dimensions and its been working fine

Search drill press return spring

thanks

If unobtainum search Clock Spring in McMaster Carr.

The difficulty comes in duplicating the endforms, its unlikely the spring steel can be bent cold into any loop, it will have to be hot-bent but then the end has to be quenched & tempered to blue/purple, but that's a path fraught with some perils.

Do you know which model was pre-tension knob on the spring? I'm asking since I just picked up an older Atlas 15" DP and can't find any model info...reading through a couple of posts trying to figure it out. I thought it was #64 but as stated it doesn't have a knob to release the tension on spring, so I'm wondering if it is #62?. Do you know if the date stamped. Sorry no pics yet-new member... Thanks.
