I ordered my Atlas OH-10X from Greg Smith Equipment today. It should arrive early next week. I'll chronicle the project here and post up my thoughts on the lift and Greg Smith Equipment as I go.

The rep. I talked to last week and placed the order with today was very courteous and helpful.

I ordered the lift last Thursday. After a struggle to get the credit card ran. the order was entered on Friday. The very courteous rep. explained that I would get an e-mail with tracking info when the lift shipped. I also asked if he could e-mail me a receipt.

FF to today. I hadn't seen any e-mails from Greg Smith Equipment so I decided to call them to see what was going on. My rep. was working with a customer in the showroom so the lady I was talking to took my message. She was able to send me the receipt I was looking for and said she would find the tracking info and get it e-mailed also.

I little while later a received a VM from my rep. It seems that my order somehow got lost and my lift hadn't shipped yet. He was extremely apologetic and assured me that my order was going out tomorrow and that he was throwing in an 8 gallon oil drain for the inconvenience.

Both the rep. and the lady I spoke with today were pleasant, courteous, and professional.

I got my tracking info today. They also sent pictures of my order as it looked when it left Indianapolis. Here's one:

You are gonna love that lift...

How are you going to unload it from the truck? It is a pretty daunting task picking it up from one end with a forklift...

I hope the freight monkeys treat your better than they treated mine on the way here. I still haven't' touched up the paint they screwed up on mine. Congrats on the free oil drain...all I got out of them extra was a pair of frame adapters...

I'll be able to use two forklifts to unload it. One to drag it out and the other to pick it up in the middle form the side.

It is good to hear that you are still liking yours.:)

Having it at home has spurred me into taking a simple electric fan installation project on my Monte to a engine \ trans removal and general overall engine bay clean up and detail.

Hopefully the engine and trans will be out by this afternoon.

My lift arrived via ESTES today!

From the looks of things, ESTES was less than gentle with the merchandise while it was in their possession. Most of the damage appears to be cosmetic in the form of scratches and scrapes. Despite me telling my employee that unloaded and received the lift to document any damage, he didn't.

I don't fault Greg Smith Equipment. It is clear that the trucking company did the scuffing. I'll live with it. I am going to try to get a can of touch up paint from GSE though.

Here are some pics of the lift as it looked after being unloaded. My guys never touched the sides.

Yep, mine looked in about the same shape when it showed up. Wait until you get it all unpacked, look for any other damage and call GSE. They send you out what you need to fix it up.

I sent pics of the damage to GES. The responded very quickly and apologized. They said they would walk me through opening a claim if I wanted. I'm not going to since my knucklehead who unloaded failed to document the damage at the time he unloaded the truck.

They are going to send me some touch up paint.

I plan to get everything unpacked this weekend. I'll look for any hidden damage then but I don't expect any.

So far so good.

My father and brothers came over today to help me work on the lift project. We got the lift unloaded and unpacked. Then we laid out marks on the floor. We jockeyed the posts into place then raised them by hand. Next we raised the top cross piece and bolted it in. The cables and hoses went in next. There is still some assembly and wiring to be done.

I did not discover any hidden damage.

Everything seems to be coming together nicely at this point. Here is a Blackberry pic that one of my brothers took:

Very nice. I hope you used two ladders taller than the one in the picture to walk the top piece up!!!

That was probably the hairiest part of my install as one of the columns was still not fastened down when we put the top piece in place.

Do you have the electrical hooked up yet?

I'm gonna hoist the 2500 HD tonight to change the oil. I'll get more pics then.

I lifted my crew cab, 4X4, Duramax/Allison 2500HD Friday night. The lift threw the truck in the air with no problem. I changed the oil while it was up there. This was the first time in my life I changed oil with out laying on my back. What a difference!

I didn't get any pics of the 2500HD on the lift because the camera was i the truck. I'm 6'-6" and I could stand straight up under most of the truck.

We lifted my father's Mini to inspect the rear wheel bearings and exhaust.

I'm digging this lift!

Here's my Dad under his Mini.

I have heard that about Greg Smith. I didn't have to talk to him.

My overall experience with GSE has been good.

The fit, finish, and initial performance of the OH-10X is also good. I'll report back after the lift has seen some usage.

That's kind of funny... When I was shopping around for my lift, I was dealing with someone else at GSE. I called them back up to ask some more questions and I couldn't get him on the phone.

The guy that had answered the phone said "Maybe I can help you instead...my name is Greg Smith..." in kind a snotty holier than thou way. :D

I don't let stuff like that bother me though, hell I was more impressed that the guy who's namesake is on the front door was actually answering the phone in person when they seemed to be pretty busy.

And by the way, he WAS able to answer my questions with ease and closed the sale as far as I was concerned.

Have been doing a bunch of research on lifts and just talked with sales person at Greg Smith Store in Oregon. Sales person very helpful and I feel at this point I will pull the pin on a Atlas Elite 10,000 OH. Reading this thread and this last post really helped me out.
Thanks
