Atlas OH9000 installation question(s)

OK, so with my shiny car lift unpackaged I decided to do a parts check and do some initial construction. To say the instructions are bad is something of an understatement. I actually seriously considered ringing Greg Smith to ask if they needed me to put something together as I went, they are that bad.

If anyone has recently installed this lift could you let me know. I would hate to have to re-invent the wheel on what you already learned.

Having to cross reference the installation diagram (use hex bolt) to a parts list (it is number part no.7 which is parts ID 2006012) and then to the packaging list (2006012 is an M8*20 hex bolt) to get the right sized bolt is beyond ludicrous.

The ONLY reference to one of the steps that most impacts the safety of the entire lift is "install the anchor bolts". No reference to drill size, depth of hole... Professionals in here are likely scoffing at my needing such things but this is in my opinion critical. I really think they are leaving themselves open to claims if someone uses a slightly large drill bit and as a result the whole thing comes tumbling down. I am going to call Greg Smith to get the precise hole size but this is indicative of the general instructions.

Again, if anyone has already been down this path please do let me know.

I installed mine a little over a year ago. I dont remember the specifics you are asking, but do agree the instructions **** bad. With that being said, it was pretty straight forward. I had to call the Greg Smith store here in Atlanta to ask how to wire up the emergency cut-off switch on the overhead bar, and I think they referred me to the website. I found everything I needed there. If you dont have a big *** hammer drill, do yourself a favor and rent one from somewhere. I have a regular 1/2" hammer drill, but it wasnt up to the task of all those holes in 5 inches of concrete. I went to Home Depot and rented one with a bit for around 50 bucks. It was worth every penny. Made those ten holes in VERY short notice. It was effortless. Less than 30 seconds each hole. I am pretty sure the hole size was 3/4". I read on several places to drill all the way through the slab so that if I ever removed the lift, I could just drive the studs down through the concrete and patch the holes instead of having steel studs ground down on the floor. I did this, and it worked great. There is a spec in the instructions on how deep to go with the stud, but the hole can be deeper.

Check here, not sure if its different than what you have, but it helped me. Just checked the PDF, and confirmed the 3/4" size for the bit. Seriously, if you dont have a big rotary hammer drill, you will want to get one.
