Just looking for opinion on these two lifts. I have been in the field wrenching for near 10 years now and have worked with multiple different brands of lifts but these two are new to me.

For what im working with right now a Rotary or Challenger is just out of my price range. I have got it narrowed down to the Atlas and Danmar lifts. Looking at their 9k lb low ceiling height two posts.

Both are cheap Chinese imports...you wont find me under one of those lifts. look at rotary's sister brand Direct..yes they are imports as well, but some are ALI cert. which is a major plus. not worth it to go cheap just to save a couple bucks when it comes to lifts.

I have an Atlas scissor for Greg Smith and it's pretty freaking stout and is very well built. I'd highly recommend a visit to a Greg Smith showroom if you've got one local. My buddy has a Danmar 2-post and has had no problems with it. He's got a Suburban and it's on there regularly. Not sure what the "rated" lift capacity is, but on any import I wouldn't push to close to it based on curb weight as actual weight is likely more and I'm sure the safety factor is not as high as we'd all like. I'd be surprised if Direct and Atlas and Danmar didn't come from the same factory.

Ill look into Direct too, I knew Atlas wasn't ALI certified but have heard decent reviews on here. Im in the process of renovating an old auto repair shop and the lifts are in ok condition just very old, id rather start with 2 fresh units.

I put a 2 ton safety stand under each leg of the lift. That way even if it did fail, the stands take the weight of the vehicle. When the weight of the vehicle is on the stands, it takes the strain off of the lift.

Mine is an Atlas 10000# extra wide extra tall. I've had my 7400# dodge cummins 4x4 on it no problem.

The comments still seem positive towards the Atlas units. Another reason I was looking into these is because where I work, we are suppliers for both of these companys and I can get both lifts for well under $2,000 a piece.

What brand are the old lifts?
If they are old Mohawks or Rotarys why not just refurbish those?

The lifts that will be replaced are a 7,000lb Benwil asymmetrical that was installed new in 1984-85 and a Globe 9,000lb symmetric that was installed new in 1989-90. I have used both lifts for years and just frankly hate both of them. Its time for some new units.
