I am reviving my grandfathers 1950’s Atlas 3060 table saw. The capacitor is bad and it needs to be replaced. There are no markings on the capacitor. The motor is an Atlas #2760 1 HP motor. I have been unable to determine what size capacitor to obtain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Looks like you have hid in the corner for 6 years. Is there a local electric motor repair shop near you? I get my capacitors at a good price from one local to me and a shop could likely fix you up with the proper size.

Well that’s a great idea. I went by there today and they indicated they have no idea what size capacitor goes with the motor since it is so old. I will try another shop.

Here's an option:

This should get you pretty close assuming you have an intact motor data plate with the necessary info on it.

After looking through some notes I've taken about motors that I've worked on:
The only 1 hp motor that I recorded anything about was a 1 hp Dayton that used a 534 mfd start capacitor.

I was hoping to see the saw! I used to deliver to the Clausing Plant back in the 80's, right across from the Checker Cab Factory and a couple blocks over from the Gibson Guitar factory. Kalamazoo was hopping back then with a ton of cool manufacturers, and better yet, Bell's Beer opened close by in one of the warehouses.

Vintage Machinery has a ton of brochures, some of the posters look knowledgeable on the equipment, maybe you could reach out to them. I've got some old Atlas Equipment in the shop, I'll check but I don't think they have Atlas Motors.
