Hi Folks, this is my first time here.I have an Atlas TH42 lathe that has served me well for many years. It is generally in very good condition but has a worn lead screw and split nut. I have not cut threads because of this. I would be interested in replacing these if parts can be found? If anyone can tell me what the tapers are in the spindle and tailstock, I would appreciate having this info as well

Welcome. Should be 3MT in the headstock and 2MT in the tailstock. As far as parts, might try Clausing to see if the parts you need are still available. If not, Ebay, OWWM.org , and the Atlas lathe Yahoo group would probably be your best bet.
Good luck, Jim

454 nailed it!

Another Yahell group to hit up is the Atlas Craftsman group, and Atlas made a lot of Sears Craftsman machine tools back in the day.

The Clausing group would be a maybe for info on that particular lathe.

As mentioned clausing might have the leadscrew and halfnuts but be prepared to pay a heavy price.

Is your leadscrew really that bad? You might get by with just new halfnuts.
