Attach Hose bib to vinyl siding

I had to go help my son replace his hose bib last night. We tried to just rebuild his old one, but even with new O-rings and washers, it still leaked. So we just replaced the whole thing. It was actually easier that I thought it would be, as it terminated under his kitchen sink so we had easy access to both sides. So that was fine. But the problem is that his old hose bib was pretty much just screwed into his vinyl siding. The screws penetrated deeper, but he only has foam board for sheathing in that part of his house. I know that use foam board for sheathing a lot in these cheaper track houses, with OSB only in the corners. So just replacing, or even going to bigger or longer screws really won't solve the problem of the hose bib being sloppy. The only solution I can thing of is getting long enough bolts to penetrate the entire outer wall into the back of his sink cabinet and putting some nuts and washing inside the cabinet to hold the bib in place better.
Other than pulling off the siding and adding some blocking in place of the foam board, does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? I know the old system worked for 25 years, but it just seams like cheap to me.

Ayuh,..... With longer screws, slap a piece of plywood under the sink, for the screws to bite into,....

To correct it properly you remove the siding panel (or 2) allowing you to replace the foam in between the closest 2 studs with a board, plywood of the same thickness of the foam. (roughly 8"x 16")
Then there are accessories meant for vinyl siding to mount the hose bib to.

It's got built in channel to allow the normal siding expansion and provides a flat surface to screw to.
It's really not a big or expensive job.

I'm worried about pulling off or messing with the 25 year old siding. It seems a bit fragile already. But yes, I know the proper solution would to add some blocking between the studs or replace a section of the foam board with OSB. That may be the final solution once it warms up in the spring and the siding soften up a bit.

You are correct that the vinyl will be brittle. If you're fortunate enough to be able to match it. (white siding)
But all of that can really snowball into a much bigger siding repair.
An alternate might be carefully cutting in a piece of Azek or similar 5/4 x 6-8 and mounting ON the foam attaching to the neighboring studs after you've J channel the opening.
