Greetings, figured it was finally time to make one of these for myself. I've got a 2-car, 22' wide by 24' deep garage for the wife's DD and my toy. Since we live on the Gulf Coast and have no basement, the garage has to be everything: car storage, man cave, workout room, etc. Having to fit all of that, this is what I have come up with:

Work area, car wash cabinets and parts storage shelves:

And, with the toy tucked away:

Any suggestions for improvement? I know the floor is lame, but moisture is an issue for us and I'm not ready for RaceDeck in this house.

Thanks.

Thanks! There's actually a 2-bar flourescent fixture on the ceiling behind the garage door opener, and then I also added another 2-bar hanging fixure over one of the benches. Between them and 3 halogen drop lights, I can usually get what I need.

The ****** is my little project. I'm the original owner (it's a 2000), and it was the last new S/R sold in the US. It has a few bolt-ons, a set of cams and a nitrous kit on it now; the cylinder head on the bench is for it, and I am porting that now in my free time. It's getting the full treatment (springs, bigger valves, bigger cams, short runner intake manifold, etc.), with the goal of 200 whp N/A. We'll see if it actually happens, I should be close.

Floor is fine.....but that car has to go......

Actually....very clean setup....we can help you spend your money with no issues.

Am I correct is saying that you covered your floor with concrete sealer?

I did that to my floor after I finished the garage...at first I thought I made a mistake....slippery as hell...now I'm glad I did it....I had some oil drip off my MC the other day after changing the oil on it....6 hours later...wiped right up...no stains....

So.....welcome....and, what would you like us to spend your money on first?

Haha, thanks. I'll be buried in that car. I hope to add another project car at some point soon, but it will be an addition, not a replacement.

If the floor has concrete sealer on it, the previous owners or the builder did it. I really just keep it swept and clean up immediately if something gets spilled on it. But, I will definitely look into it now.

As far as what's next...I was thinking about a stripe scheme for the wall (maybe the ubiquitous gray/red/black combo), an enclosure for the exposed shelving unit, or sliding doors for the workbenches. At least the one that I built, if not the gladiator one too.

Yea man It looks very organized and clean. Cosmetic things like paint can help your garage or shelving may help but maybe you don't need it at this time. Garages aren't meant to be enjoyed so find a project that will be fun and have fun with it.

So, I've been busy lately out in the garage. First up, the little bench under the window:

It's still the Lowes modular shelving special, but now with stained oak shelves and doors to hide the oil change equipment. We also upgraded to a proper Blu Ray player for the living room, so I was able to move the old sound system outside.

Next up: south Mississippi survival gear. Bought an 8000 BTU Frigidaire unit from Lowes. I really needed the 10K one to cool the whole garage, but it wouldn't fit in the little window. This one, though, does a good enough job of making it bearable out there:

Next: Gladiator cabinets for all of my car washing supplies.

This allowed me to replace the ugly wire shelving over the fridge with the Coleman cabinets I previously used for that stuff:

I redid the model car/beer bottle shelves, and also picked up a mascot in the process. The fish "scales" are beer bottle caps:

Finally: the MDF boards on my big shelving unit were starting to warp. So, I made some 3/4" oak pieces, stained to match the rest of the wood in the garage:

It's a great garage for us real people who don't have unlimited budgets. I've learned more from garages like yours than from the high dollar garages that are full of ideas that I can't begin to afford ... at least until I get these kids thru college.

Love the beer bottle collection…

I can appreciate all the work you’ve put into your car. Keep up the good work!

You are able to fit all your tools in just that black toolbox?

I don't think my garage has EVER been that empty or clean! I'm doing pretty good if I can fit even 1 car in there and it's a bit larger than yours... AND I have a 320 sq ft shed out back for all the non garage stuff. :shocking::lol_hitti

Does your Escourt have a lift kit of some kind? Seems very tall.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody.

Nate: for starters, the top and bottom boxes are blue, it's only the one in the middle one that's black. :) My local Sears stopped carrying the blue boxes when I needed to expand, and I was too cheap to pay the extra shipping, so now I have a two-tone box arrangement. And no, not all of my tools fit in there. The big floor cabinet stores all of my power and air tools. I have my screwdrivers hung over one of the benches. The red little toolbox under one of the benches has most of my engine-specific tools. And the wall cabinet over the bench has more, like my overhead cam valve spring compressor, 1/2" torque wrench, and OBDII code scanner (as well as all of my drop lights). I could really stand to upgrade to a 41" or 56" box, but I really don't have the room without having to get rid of something else. I'll just have to make do with what I have.

As far as the car and its ride height: the S/R models came with Eibach springs and Tokico struts, which sit about 1.2" lower than a regular ZX2. It's low, but not super low.

Very nice home, garage shop, vehicles, and tools. Organization is excellent and pleasing to look at. This can serve you very well, and you have done a great job in setting it up.

Wow, Wish mine could be that organized. Have so much stuff plus multiple engines and parts that I run out of room and have to either put stuff in the attic or as usual, stack things on my cars and remove them to remove the cars. Such a pain.
