I'm adding an attached garage and mud/laundry room to my cape cod style house. House is small, 30w by 24 deep.
What is a good size to go with?
I tried searching because I know its been asked 100000 times.
I'm starting with a minimum of 24x 24 for the garage. Mud room will be about 10'across the front, but 8 at the back because of a bump out on the house.
I have a suburban and wife will have a Honda pilot.
Its going to start out as parking only, but I'm sure it will have bikes and other **** in it.
So, will 24' deep be enough, I don't want to dwarf the house.(well I do, but my wife doesn't!)
Any tips on what you know or have would help.

If possible I would go 26 deep at a min and 28 would be my preference.

Depending on the year of the suburban its around 19 foot long. so 2 foot behind the car, 2 foot in front plus the loss of a foot from framing you wouldn't have any additional space for stuff in front of the car at 24', at 26' you could have a 2 foot shelf there, and at 28' you could have a 36" workbench and some room to use it.

24' will "fit" a suburban, If you can get away with going deeper it will make it much easier to move around in there... 30 is kinda the most versatile number, but i get what your saying about the house size.

Im guessing you have kids, hence the suburban. Their toys and **** sure has a way of accumulating in the way! Trust me I know!

OK, so deeper I can probably do, depending on which roof style I go with.
I want the pitch to match the house obviously.
As long as its shorter than the house I should be good. I'll draw a 28' version and see how it looks.

I am already building a 30x40 building for myself, this one is for the house.
