Attaching a top box to a wood top work bench

About a month ago i purchased a 46 inch Husky workbench http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-46-in-9-Drawer-Mobile-Workbench-with-Solid-Wood-Top-7440946/204354788 I love this box been really suprised bye the quility after all the bad reviews i seen but i have found one problem....ive fell so inlove with this box that i have neglected my rolling cart http://www.harborfreight.com/580-lb-capacity-four-drawer-tool-cart-95659.html, but here's the biggest problem....my rolling cart has built in ratchet and extension slot storage my original idea was that the rolling cart would be a work cart and the workbench would be a storage box but it has not worked out that way, I'm constantly running back to the "storage box" because the "work cart" is not holding everything i need in a organized manner.

Ok now to the point. Has anyone got any advice for mounting a top box to a solid wood top workbench? the idea is to take the box portion of the roller box and mount it to the top of my workbench. I want to allow for enough hang over of the roller cart box to allow pass bye of the ratchets slots off the none handle side. This puts me at 30" wide on top leaving a 16" work space but for it to remain stable with that hang off i will need some type of mounting any suggestions? (Currently do not have access to welding equipment)

First off, I would discourage that.
Second. If you still want to do it just drill through the wood top and the metal on the top of the bottom toolbox/workbench.
I would only use 2 bolts no larger that 1/4 as once you tighten it up the top section won't move.

What would I do.
Just get a side box that holds the long screwdrivers and extensions. I have seen them down to $30
I would prefer to use the workbench you have like a tool cart so you have the larger workspace on top

I would use some either bolts or lags with large fender washers (or a piece of steel) to attach the box to the wood top.

Thanks for the advice but another issue im trying to solve here is space on a student budget....both boxes are getting to a point where ill soon have stacks on stacks of tools, and using this box for class organization is a grade.... and a bigger box is not an option until I can find work!!!!

On the other point i'm a bit lost, are you saying use bolts to basically screw it down or drill though and place a nut on the underside?

What about glues or epoxy? is there anything that could mount wood and steel that would hold up long enough to purchase a larger box?

Yes, use the lags to screw through bottom of box in to wood or bolts and go through the wood too. I'd prefer to go with bolts.

Attach with heavy duty self adhesive Velcro... Should hold the box in place, especially when you fill it with tools, and you call always move the box and remove the Velcro...

Remove drawers from both boxes
Drill through the bottom of the top box and the top of the bottom box
Install bolts with washers and nuts

Also
Take the drawers out of your bottom box and look at how the configuration is between the BBslides and the outer side of the box.
If you are not adverse to drilling a few more holes you may be able to set it up so the holes in the cart will be above this void and you can run the long items through the cart and into the bottom box so everything is hidden and the install will be much cleaner
