My new workbench that I am assembling is bascially 2 cabinets that push together and create a work surface. I don't really like that set up, so I am going to separate the cabinets and lay this thick desk board that I have across the top, at least as a temporary board in case I decide to go bigger later. My question is, considering that this may only be temporary, should I bolt the board into the cabinets, or just leave it laying across? I plan to attach a vise to it and maybe a mini-mill or a drill press, so I figure I will have to lay it so there is a little lip, at least in the front and on one end. The kind of use it's going to see is drilling, some power sawing, and some minor welding (I have a piece of junk metal that I can throw on top for welding). My bike is pretty much back together, so the heaviest thing that it will hold, at the moment, will be some exhaust pipes or maybe some homeowners projects like cabinets.
Thanks.
Thanks.
