Is there a preferred method of attaching things (electrical boxes, conduit straps, etc) to the posts of a 2-post lift?
I'm thinking I can either use:
-self tappers (may not make it through the thick metal)
-bolts/nuts
-threaded holes in the metal

What have you guys done before? Pictures would be helpful too!

I used 1/4" bolts to attach my conduit straps, and electrical box. Just drilled the hole, and used a nut/bolt. Just make sure its not too long to interfere with anything.

Self tappers, but with a pilot hole drilled first.

Make sure you know there is enough clearance in the carriage travel area, although the soft self tapping screws will break off cleanly if you miss.

Ask me how I know that.

Self tappers work great. Use heavy duty ones and make sure you are clear on the inside. No need to predrill if you use the good ones. (5/16" hexhead)

I prefer a small Tig weld
(Way too small of a HAZ to effect the column).

(Thankfully, my Tig is getting better, now)

I used various things, stick on zip tie clamps for elec lines, pre drilled and self tappers the zip off extra in the inside of pillar or weld on a nut on the outside then bolt the air reel to nuts. Also magnets on can holders and small hangers and such work good

For some tasks, the plentiful and cheap and *powerful* neodymium magnets from ebay can do the job as well.
