Attic exhaust fan motor?

I'm not an AC repair guy,, so this is a question for my neighbor,,,his attic exhaust fan motor went out ,,not the heater fan ...is it possible that a ac motor fan would be the same? Thanks

Hard to tell. Can you get a picture with the model/serial number and post it? It should be possible to assist him with that basic info. Also don't know if it is direct drive or belt driven but just for fun, check the breaker & electrical connections for power to the fan and if belt driven look for loose or broken belt.

I am a little bit confused. When you said that you weren't an AC repair guy, I took that to mean you weren't an air-conditioning repair person. I thought that way because you capitalized the letters AC.

Then you asked if an ac motor would be the same, but the letters ac were in lower case. So now I am wondering if you mean an ac motor as opposed to a dc motor?

I'm not an air condition repairman....I was just wondering by chance if an exhaust attic fan motor could be the same as an air conditioner fan motor...

Those fans are cheapo shaded pole moters. No way anything from an HVAC supply house that isn't for an attic fan will be cheaper.
