Attic Fan - Which One?

I heard a buzzing yesterday, come to find out that the motor on my attic fan seized. Obviously I need to replace it, but what should I look for in an attic fan? Any brands to look for or stay away from? Any specific air volume to get (if that's even an option)? Never shopped for attic fans before so I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Replace the motor or have it rebuilt.

If it's a roof mounted fan vent then just replace the motor. It will cost you more in the long run dealing with shingles and such when replacing a fan roof vent. If it's a gable mounted vent you will not pay much more for the whole unit than you will for a motor.

I bought the light duty three speed exhaust fans from McMaster about 15 years ago and they are still running fine (dry/dusty climate). 1200/1600/2000 cfm . I have spoke to people in the industry who say 10 volume changes per hour to acheive best results.

Thanks guys - it's a roof-mounted fan so you're right that it would probably be easier to change the motor.
