Has anyone mounted an atv sprayer on the back of a garden tractor? This was my idea but didn't know if someone had a better way

I'm not following you here.

First, thanks for the first picture! I've got to order that ball hitch kit from Northern Tool ($55, search "great day lawnpro" on their site) for my own garden tractor so I can tow small utility trailers around the place.

Second, the picture of the rack that you show has a receiver hitch mounting, which your lawn tractor doesn't have. You could use that carrier, but you are going to need to add some additional bracing down to the back of the lawn tractor in order to support a sprayer - assuming you put a 15-gallon sprayer on there, you're looking at the weight of that carrier, the sprayer weight, plus 120 pounds of liquid.

several farm stores have a 5-10 gallon setup already on a steel bracket that will almost bolt right up to the seat mounts on the larger garden tractor.

Your way will work as well.

With all that weight that far away from the rear, the tractor will be in permanent wheelie mode. Lots of weight will have to be loaded on the front of the tractor.

I have one, I plan to build a small frame with a spray bar on the rear and tow it like a wagon. I'd not be keen about a tank mounted on the back of a quad, especially if you are going to spray any kind of toxic chemical.

I already own the 20gal with boom so I'm not buying another sprayer. Rather not put it on a trailer. Too tough to back up and too much of a hassle.

I am undecided on just drilling a hole to mount the 2 together or mounting a 2in reciever to the top of the piece coming off the tractor

This is pretty much what I'm thinking but obviously without the 3point

I take it your not a weldor/fabricator. For me I think I would cut the arm for the rack at the lower gussets and turn it to face down and weld it back on. Weld an appropriate bolt on sticking down to bolt it to your hitch hole. Now get a couple of braces as shown in the first picture to brace the upper part from twisting around. This would move the CG of the tank much closer to the tractor hopefully enough so that you have sufficient weight of the front wheels.

My wife has one on a trailer she pulls behind the garden tractor. It has a 12 volt pump wired up to a switch on the tractors dash. Has two wands that fold down for about an eight foot wide spray patern. Also has a hand wand that she can use for spots that are hard to reach. Works like a charm.

I built a trailer as well. Haven't had any issues with backing up or any such thing. Also comes in handy for hauling misc. stuff around the yard.
