I wouldn't list the price paid either if I was going to resell them

This is a good point. But, I would then just avoid saying it was a "score" and instead just post it here as a cool find for the day/week.

Because it opens you up to criticism if people know what you paid and see what profit you want to make.

So what is the acceptable profit on any given item if I want to avoid criticism?

Sounds like a tough crowd!

Make 10X what you paid. Thats what you get for being at the right place at the right time with cash on hand. Price it to sell and if you make 7000 dolllars so be it.

Personally, I say that you should aim to make as much profit as you can. I don't have a problem with people buying low and selling high; that's the only way to do it.

What I buy and sell is all low-profit vintage stuff. But, what I do is to start my for-sale threads with prices that I think are good for me but still reasonable. If the item doesn't sell, I lower the price.

But, I do know that some people will balk at buying your item if they know that you paid $5 for it, and are asking $100. Just how it goes.

I agree with you, Bull, and apparently with MrHoleshot as well. No one should care what I/you/someone else pays for an item.

I apologize for being argumentative.

Whats the problem with posting a price? Every item has a perceived value regardless of what you paid for it. If you bought all of the items for $1 I wouldn't expect you are going to sell them for $5. You are going to sell them for what they're worth. Just sayin..

I suggest that you sell them to me for $500. Making a profit buying and selling stuff is un-American. You're not some kind of commie are you?

You should sell the tools you dont need for fair market price, you bought in bulk and got a good deal, your probably going to sell it by sets so it will be more shipping etc. There is no reason not to get fair market price just because you got a good deal on it.

And for the record I am extremely jealous, quite a few things in there are on my list.

In this case, unless he is selling them as a lot, the total price paid would be difficult to translate into what profit is on a single item.

Personally, when buying I don't care what he paid as long as I believe I'm getting a good deal.

However I do like seeing the lot price as guidance for me so I can better judge what a good lot price is. That's assuming I ever actually find a good deal around here. :wtf:

OK Thanks,
The Snap On one is what I'm looking for, Thought someone might have a spare.
Do you think it is the same ($17.90) off the truck?
I have the set, at 9-19 mm.
Thanks,
Tony
