Another small update: ran wires for the work bench, computer and air compressor. I put the air compressor on its own 20amp plug all by itself. Figured it would be best to do that in anticipation for a larger one down the road. Also ran speaker wire for the surround sound speakers I hung earlier last week. The major hangup with this part of the project is that I'll have to cut the Sheetrock to get the wires to the panel. No room in the trusses to drill through the top plate and no room in the existing holes. Will post pictures soon.

Thanks! Im really diggin your garage, Mine is about the same size with a similar layout. Where did you get the racing office chair?

Thanks! I got the seat as a gift from my boss back in High School. I just made an adapter plate out of plywood and used an old office chair base.

Finally got a working computer setup and found an older receiver at the in-laws to use for sounds. It's looking like the next part of this project will be missing and painting. It will not be very fun, but worth it. I was thing of using a Restoration Hardware color, Pumice/Subtle Velvet. What do you guys think? The pic isn't really accurate but it looks like there's just a hint of gray which is what I'm looking for but don't want to absorb too much light.

Well, I'm a huge fan. Nice garage. I have had two 1st get A8's. Ran them until we had our 3rd kid and we look forward to the day when the wife and I can run another a8.

Here are some pics of two of my favorite Audi's I have worked on very recently at my house.

Both cars are owned by a long time friend. He is does very well, and when ever he buys a car, he calls me and asks me what to get. His last car, before this car was a RS4, and he modded it like crazy. Motons, PES Blower, Forgelines, Brembo's etc. This time around, we we looked for the R8, I said, lets find it almost done and then add a few bits to it. Well, after dialing the suspension, wheels and body, he almost could have purchased another one. Go figure. Love the turbo kit. It does heat soak up here at high altitude here in Utah, but its a kick in the pants.

The S8, it was bone stock. I measure the car up, had the wheels built and dialed in the suspension. S8's are my favorite car. I also built a stainless mid pipe (looks like the GMG piece that was NLA). We drove the car around the block with just the headers, and it was something beautiful.

Keep up the good progress on your garage. Slow and steady wins the race. I have to check out Groits for some garb for my garage.

Thanks for sharing the photos of those beautiful Audi's! I saw the video of the S8 (Brandon showed me) and wow what a sound! Have you seen the new S8? That R8 is something else, I'd love to sit shotgun in one of those :)

Picked up a steel barrel at the swap meet to use as the garbage. Been looking for one since the beginning of the year. We were about to give up and my wife pointed a few out. Not bad for $10.00. It will be getting fresh paint soon. Thought about keeping it as is but I'm not going for the rustic look in this garage.

Once you get paint on the walls it will have a brand new feel to the place. You will spend a whole lot more time out there then.

Any plans for floor colouring?

Seems to be the consensus that I leave it as is. So as is it will stay. Hopefully the walls get mudded and painted soon. No plans with the floor at this point.

Not much of an update as of late, just been helping friends with their cars and odd jobs. I can say though that all the time spend putting in the lights, making the shelves, stereo, computer has paid off! I have spent a lot of time doing curbside repairs in years past and truly appreciate having a garage to work in. To those of you who are looking for that extra motivation to complete the next update to your garage, keep going!

Made some updates lately including making a mount for my drip pan and bolting the bench to the wall(finally).

The current project here is the 1991 Audi 90 Quattro 20valve. It is getting a matte black vinyl wrap service! This is my first round with vinyl wrap and after the initial learning curve I feel like I'm getting the hang of this. Biggest thing is patience and planning how you are going to lay it down. stretching and heat help out in the curved areas. A few pics of the progress:

Re: Audi Garage - Insulation Time

Hoping to get some insulation done before winter really settles in. Last year it was brutal working out there in sub freezing weather. I got a quote from a local insulation company and it came out to ~500 for a 20x20 area with R38 blown and one wall, 20'x8' high at a R20 blown as well.

Still trying to get approval but looks like it may be a go for this winter. I would then do the styrofoam insulation on the door and hopefully put a good seal around it. That should help out quite a bit for heat and in the summer to keep cool.

I would love to put in a small natural gas ceiling heater as well but that is probably out of the budget this year.

On a different, more Audi note, this year I was one of the WantAnR8 Twitter contest winners and got a trip for two to Wine Country California for a day at the track in an R8! It was an awesome experience and am just that more proud to be an Audi enthusiast :)

Below is the link to the video that Audi put together.

It's been a little while since my last update. Got the vinyl wrap done and have been driving it all winter.

On the garage side of things I welded up a tire rack that is currently being used for storage and acquired a bead blast cabinet. Quickly found out that my little compressor is nowhere near powerful enough to run it. So it will sit as an ornament for the next few months.

Audi project update: Picked up a "3b" motor from back east and have spent the last week cleaning it up and with any luck it will be in and running come May.

Results from the Vinyl:

The Sparco? I took a few pieces of wood and made a mount for an office chair base. Didn't make a very comfortable office chair and now it sits on the floor.

Someday I'll have something to put it in :)

Ah, always wanted to do something similar, as buying a recaro office chair is crazy expensive. I like you B5, i had a Santorin Blue a couple years ago, well until i could no longer afford the repair bills haha.
