I prefer to do my welding in the Alternative Reality realm.

I tried one at a trade show several years ago. Not a 1:1 replacement for the real thing but definitely mimics the muscle movements and gives plenty of sensory feedback to the novice. I’d love to have one for first time high school welding students to get a feel for the equipment they’ll be using.
