Online deals (not up yet)

August Cman Club days starts on the 17th. That night, after 6pm, you get an additional 10% off.

I was at Sears getting a pricematch on my wife's new camera, and the tool guy found me. Gave me this month's flyer which is much thinner than usual. Nothing unique struck me, but I noticed that the new indexable pry bars are on sale. When I checked them out in the automotive section, I only spotted one of the three sizes.

You are right. Nothing in the flier (except the indexable pry bars). Business as usual. I threw mine out already...

It seems like the great deals only come out during secret clearances, winter holidays, and father's day. =(

Sears has also stopped sending me printed flyers. The Sears tool guy told me that they have "plenty" and "stacks" in the back. They probably get discarded as I've only seen flyers on display once, about a year ago.

You might rejoin the craftsman club and they should start sending them again; I have been told if you don't use your card, they stop sending them. I don't know if this is true but you can always look at the flyer online. I just got mine a couple of days ago. To "re-up" goto: http://www.craftsman.com/cc_decision.html
or call Call the Craftsman Club hotline at 1-800-682-8691 to update your address or to "rejoin".

We have been told the same thing at my store. If you don't use the card your membership is flagged as "inactive" and they stop sending flyers as a cost cutting measure. Just call the 1-800 # and they will reactivate your membership and start sending flyers again. On a side note I called about a month ago and got set up as a member and actually talked to someone who spoke perfect english with no foreign (indian) accent.

It seems there may not be any rhyme or reason to this; just "rejoin" online and you should be getting them again or call.

I received my flyer yesterday. That is the first I have seen of the indexable prybars. I could see some instances where they could be handy. I wonder who manufactures them.

Looks like the deep 1/2" impact sockets are on sale. Naturally..... Since I've spent considerable time piecing together metric and SAE sets off of ebay.

How do you use membership discount? I have my Craftsman Club # on my Sears account profile, but the discount never show up even after I add them into cart.

Oh, that's a new feature designed to save you money by not buying the tools. :bounce:

j/k....

You may need to re-enter your account # at the time of purchase rather than simply letting your profile info fill in the blanks.

I received my flyer in the mail today.
It looks like the other posters are right. August is not one of the big months as far as discounted items. Also, it looks like Sears is starting to "push" the Craftsman line of clothes in their club flyers.

I am looking for some tools for my truck to use in emergency. Are the Craftsman 1/2 inch drive breaker bars good? I do not want high end expensive tools for my truck due to theft risk.

Depends on how you use it; I broken probably 4 of them and finally gave up; I purchased a Snapon 24" and we're done! I haven't broken that one and I don't think ever will. Granted I was torquing things with a cheater pipe; so, for regular stuff without a cheater pipe, you probably will be ok; just keep in mind they do break. We do warranty quite a few of these at the store; be careful as you can really hurt yourself! As me how I know! They shear off right at the point that the drive swivels. Maybe others can recommend a brand breaker bar that is cheaper but still good; aside from the high end Snapon.

Snapon Breaker Bar, 24" Stock#: SN24C
The ultimate breaker bar; IMHO.

The Snap ons are light duty in comparision to the williams bars. My friend ended up with an old one with a twisted drive head that he sent into williams and the one they sent back makes most of the 3/4" drive bars I have seen look light duty.

The only thing that looked good in this months Cman club flier was the cheap multimeter. I did think about the deep impacts or the led light on the back though.

I have a Snap ON 18 inch 1/2 inch drive breaker bar in my tool chest. This will not be available on the road in my truck. I need one to remove lug nuts when I get a flat tire.

No. I broke 5 in a row on the same bolt. I got a snap-on one, broke it. got it replaced, broke that one, took it back and got my money back.

I went to the MAC truck and got one, bolt came out first try. I wouldn't give up my 24" MAC breaker bar for 2 Snap-Ons.

Edit: If it's for lug nuts, what's wrong with a 4-way? If that won't get it off, learn how to torque lug nuts properly.

I am guessing that the reason he is having problems with his lugs is that he wasn't the last one to torque them down. Most people on the board know how to torque down lugs properly. The problems arise when we have to undo the hack job done by someone else....
