Well thought I would share some pictures, today finally got some progress on the new shop. This will be steel construction. Here are the first few pictures.

Here is the area the shop will be built on.

Heres the accros the slope view, has almost a 10' fall by estimation across the pad area.

The pile of trees, dont worry I wish I didn't have to knock out so many trees but I can't have trees in a position to come down on the shop.

The start of the cut and fill. Pad size will be 5400'sq

Thats it for now, the drott operator is still out there now so we will see how far he gets by days end.

In any case, the dozer driver took several big trees down and the cost, based on machine time, was something like $25 each. Now we want to add on so that we can store more junk we never use. And that will require a tree trimmer with a boom truck.

So my advice is to take them down now if you can.

In any case, the dozer driver took several big trees down and the cost, based on machine time, was something like $25 each. Now we want to add on so that we can store more junk we never use. And that will require a tree trimmer with a boom truck.

So my advice is to take them down now if you can.

My wife kept pointing at trees to come down. There is more to come out.

What precautions did they take to ensure the fill portion won't settle after the concrete has been placed? Maybe it is not an issue with the type of soil you have?

I have about 2' of fill under one end of my garage and after all the grading was finished I left it exposed to the elements for about 6 months (rain and the freeze/thaw of winter). That worked for the time frame I was going by but wouldn't work for most people.

If I had of had the money I would have done the same cut and filled 6 months ago. But now the slab will be piered back down to the original ground level, will cost more in footings though

The company who originally brought it to the market was call drott, they also had the patent on the 4in1 / multi-purpose bucket, now owned by international I believe.

Hey Buds Grennbank is a nice part of QLD. If your wife is upset about the trees just plant some more some where on you block.
Keep in photos coming we like progress photos What sort of shed are you putting up i have a 9 x7.5 titan shed with 6m carport on the front. I find it a bit hot in summer so i am going to insulate it this year also i live over in Caboolture.

Well I would love to report good news, but alas there is none.

Qld has been in a drought now for years, now I decide to finally put my shed up and it has rained on average every 2-3 days at my place. Now this would be fine but I have a red clay driveway which needs about 2 days to dry out before taking a truck up it, (first 30m is very steep). So still no concrete

This is getting depressing, I do a lot of fab work and I still can't do it at home, I have to drive a 50min round trip every night to my parents to do my work.

Also, huge blow out in the slab cost original estimate was $7000, now with all the peiring required - $10,500

Wow, that's a big price jump. Has it stopped raining long enough to get the slab poured?

If it makes you feel any better, I had much the same experience pouring concrete. Here in Georgia (Southeastern US), we're in the worst drought in YEARS. Our lakes have gone so far down, many marinas are out of business. Our watering bans have demolished the landscaping businesses.

But somehow I managed to keep the red clay in my driveway muddy for about two solid months as we tried to get things done. I had consistent rain a day or two before each pour, and sometimes a day or so after. I kept telling people I could single handedly end the shortage if I could get the budget to keep pouring more concrete.

Strangely enough, that pretty much stopped when my driveway was completed and I got down enough gravel to combat the red mud.

Hang in there, it'll happen, it'll just take some time to get it done right.

I know, did you see on the news the floods in qld around the Beaudesert region, well that is where I am.

It is just raining in the wrong spots. You should see all the sucklings coming through were I bulldozed those trees

Well yesterday the concreter called to say he's ready to come up on Wednesday to start on the footings, I wake up this morning (Tuesday) to it absolutely pelting down with rain. It is now 10am the rain has stopped, it is still overcast hopefully it can hold out so he can get started.
