Aussie:Hello form Japan

Hello everyone.

Although I don't have a garage here in Japan, I do back in Australia and I love owning and using quality tools. Before moving to Japan from Melbourne 1.5 years ago, I worked at a well know tool retail outlet. I love working on my car and buying the right tool for the job. I am not a pro, so the easier I can make the task at hand the better, mainly for my sanity.

I am mainly into automotive stuff, however, any trade interests me and I find people who enjoy doing what they do well and who love sharing their enjoyment with others a fantastic thing. Sharing ideas is FANTASTIC!



I can't wait to get back to Australia in April and be re-united with my toolbox.

Living an adventure!

My wife and I are teaching English. My 3 kids are attending primary school. (Government school.)

We planning on returning in April which will make it a total of 2 years. It has been an amazing experience so far and the kids have learnt a second language!

Do you get to any events in Japan ? May not be your thing but the Moon Eyes (Hot Rod Shows) events are to be seen or so I am told.

Do a search here for tools from Japan or similar and you will learn a bit about your current local scene. There are some crazy shops over there that would be worth a look if I was over there.

I have been to Auto Messe Osaka, which is like the Tokyo Auto Salon and the Osaka Motor Show. I plan on going again next year before we leave.

I own a 2001 Toyota Aristo here, which is the same kinda car as the Lexus GS300 except for the higher power twin turbo. My plan is to bring it back to Australia with us. I have done most of the work on it myself, including suspension and brake upgrades, a bigger exhaust and fluid changes etc. So, in the beginning, every time I performed a job, I bought a new tool. Most of the tools I have bought so far have been KTC. Easy to find on the shelf and made in Japan. I do have to be very careful though, as I may not be able to take everything back with me.

I spent a couple of hours in an area of Osaka which is a street full of small tool and electronics shops. At the time, I was with my wife and I didn't spend anywhere near as much time as I hoped there. I will go back again soon. LOL
