Hey mate good to see ya back, I remember reading through your build many years ago, but i had to give it a once over.

What is the info on the Kit car / custom you have? the purple one? cant believe no one really asked about it!

I've been thinking of getting one of those chicago air compressors too, I question its reliability, but it seems alot of spray painters I know get one for their home garages. I'm not ready to give up my old reliable Pilot compressor though.

Yeah the air compressor is ****** brilliant I have struggled waiting for the various air compressors over the years to catch-up (painting, die grinders, etc which has really pissed me in past). Now I have the CNC Plasma I can't have it tripping out due to lack of flow. I have not had any issues to date, but I haven't had it that long to make an assessment on reliability. I do like the fact that when I am not using a high CFM tool I can just run one of the four units. So it essential cuts operation hours by 75%.

Really enjoy reading your posts Rudi.
The car is my own design, not based on anything. The only donor part is the V6 block which is the nissan VG30DE.
I have actually two, one is registered (blue/purple) and one is purely for the track (black). Took me about 8years to build the first one, the second I managed to pull off in less than 6 months.

been working away on the shed a bit more. I have created what I am referring to as the project room. It is place where I am able to work on projects with out spreading dust and paint over spray. But also gives me high levels of light.
It is the one are of the shed that is without storage/shelving/benches.

Have been having a lot of trouble with what to do with the b pillar on my dual cab Chevy maple design. So I went and spent the money on proper renders. This is version 3 of the design. Still going with the front and rear profile. I think this is about 90% there.
Any advice, would be greatly appreciated.

Not a fan of the C pillar, to me it just looks like the windshield was mirrored to the rear, doesn't really flow, either the front needs to be leaned back more or the rear needs to be vertical, you may have done this in the previous versions, but I didn't see any. I would consider chopping it as well.

Thanks everyone I have tried a vertical C Pillar, and a slight angle. I have a larger angle on it and it looks better by it adds too much to the wheel base. I think I will need to have a crack in person and see how it looks. I am not going to chop the roof, and when you seen the front profile it will be pretty clear.

Hey David, great progress. That homebuilt special looks awesome too!

The two tone paint, stance, wheels etc look amazing in that render! I tend to agree with everyone else about the rear pillar though. I'd suggest that whatever option you go for (slanted or vertical), that you're best off matching the B pillar to the C pillar in terms of angle to keep the lines consistent.

I couldn't find dualcab variants of your model truck. I did find a few of the slightly later model Chevs. Very different door treatments on each of them, but consistent vertical C pillars on them. Apparently two tones are mandatory too! I suppose they do have a lot of metal that needs to be broken up.:p

great searching for styles Hewey, the 3 rear windows do change the look a lot, but also give more room for the seat to sit back slightly. David has a lot more to ponder now...just the thing for recovering from injury.

Been a while since I have posted here. But been busy with work and such. The truck is coming along and I’ll get some photos for you. But I have got myself a second hand dyno. Will be cleaning it up and converting it from analogue to digital, in addition to the frame needing a good clean up the plates I have taken off to get powder coated.

The Dyno was a good score...
Are you going to the show and swap met this weekend.... We are pouring concrete about 10 am and should be out there by about 1:30 to have a look. The show should be good on Sunday.

Noted on the dust, needs a clean. I won't be making it out of the shed for a while, our road is not passable. even if I put it on the trailer.
Shame missed the show. I had my **** hanging out with work at the moment. I am only doing minor jobs in the shed when I get a moment.

A bit of a lack of posting lately I have been struggling with my health a bit, and of course work. Slowly getting back into the shed a bit now.
The dyno is progressing a little I got the plate blasted and powder coated in a hammer tone blue. Pretty happy wit how it came out.
At the same time lucked on to a used Bendpak 3.5ton hoist for $100 Aus. It needs some work but that budget allows for a lot.
