So I am looking to buy a digital battery/alt cond/load tester,I have a lot of equipment with batteries and do some work for others. I don't want a POS, would like to stay about $100. Any suggestion? Hate having to remove the battery and taking to a parts place to get checked out. I was told to look for a old Snap on MT 1552 but that is kind of a large setup. Plus need a reason to buy another tool Thanks

I have the ...............SOLAR BA9 40-1200 CCA Digital Battery and System Tester.

AUTEL and Solar like the others have dozens of models with various features.

I have owned a Solar BA9 for while now. Its pretty simple digital analyzer to use. Works for a number of different battery styles and easily reads a battery's cranking amps CA/CCA so you have a number to compare to the original specs. Also does an simple charging system test. Lot of reviews available review on that model and also the earlier BA7

After pulling up that link I also see since I had purchased one there are numerous knock offs available

Those old style toasters load testers will always come recommended here I watched the kid melt one recently trying to test on of the tractors batteries. Guess he over heated it :D

It's double your budget if you buy used on Ebay, but the Snap On EECS350 is an amazing tool. I've borrowed one a few times to the point its high on my list of "must purchase".

I have the Snap-on 550. I believe the same tool but wireless. More expensive for the wireless feature, but great tool.
I Highly recommend

I use the Ancel BA101 load tester. One reading it provides that most do not is the internal resistance of the battery. As the resistance rises (due to plate sulfation), it is harder for the battery to push amps through, regardless of the surface open circuit voltage reading. Too much resistance, and a battery with a good open circuit voltage can do light duty well, but not push enough amps for a starter. Automobile batteries in good condition should show <8 mΩ. Odysseys and Optima Yellow tops recently purchased showed 1-2 mΩ when tested new.
