I have had a very dark and dim rear view mirror for several months. Been so dim I could not see anything on a cloudy day. I found one at a junk yard and brought it home to install. When looking at the newer mirror I noticed a reset button of some kind on part of the mirror. Reset it and it works fine, so I though I had it fixed. The next time I drove the truck the mirror was fine until I used my Handicap mirror hanger to park closer to the hospital to visit a friend. The Handicap hanger was causing the mirror to go to the max dim position all the time. I did find this out before I bought a tool to remove the mirror. The junk yard had to break the windshield to get the old mirror off and I was not about to break my window to change the mirror without the tool. Ford really has made it very hard to remove the mirror from the windshield unless the glue has failed and you have to glue it back on.This is on a 2004 Ford Expedition.
