auto trans clutch compressor

has anybody used this bench style compressor? i could weld one up for alot chaeper just want to know how you liked it. limitations?

I have an generic brand OTC style compresser. I have not used it yet, except to see if it worked. Based on looks it fit my application best (Ford A4LD) and seemed simple.

For as simple as it is it would not take much to make one, me thinks.

Try either of these instead. They set up and work fast and have a wide range of coverage and can be moved around or locked up in a cabinet when not in use, unlike a floor standing model.

The one I used from him was very similar to this, but even simpler (and probably 50 years old.) The bench type I borrowed was similar to the bench type you pictured but it had both a screw (for gross setting) and a lever (for fine setting) so it was actually "fancier" than the one you linked to, but I still preferred the smaller "wing nut" unit as easiest to use.

Just my opinion. I think any of them could be easily made from scrap laying around and some allthread.

Edit: he also had, and I tried, a unit very similar or identical to the unit redwrench pictured here http://atec-trans-tool.com/t-0158-sp-snapressclutchspringcompressor.aspx For me it was very frustrating and hard to use. Again just my opinion.
