Auto Wire Stripper

Just curious. Do you guys use any AUTO wire strippers you like-use daily.
The auto stripper work for me on solid wire fine. Stranded, the *stripmaster* works if you are working with just bare wire. Portable cord, the head is too FAT to get the it to strip low and close to the end of the jacketed portion of the cable. Well, then again, the stripmaster is not a auto stripper.

I find myself always reaching for dedicated solid and stranded standard wire strippers.

Had a pair from matco. Didn't care for them for auto wiring I keep a standard set of blue point in my cart at work

Good when you have a lot of wire to strip, if you build wiring harnesses etc.

im an auto electronics tech. i use cheap $3.99 strippers from radio shack ,i use them all day long ,they last about 9months before they wear out or i forget them in a car.

I have a set from S&G Tool Aid. They also re brand them for Matco and Cornwell. I can't remember the model number off hand. I use them daily with no issues. If you are stripping wire ends a lot then you need them. They will even do multiple wires at one time.

I have and use these Daily. They work REALLY well for just about any wire. If the one size hangs up on the wire I just use it to cut the Insulation then move to the next larger hole for the Stripper.

Same exact ones I have. I use them everyday for abot the last year and they still work like brand new....

The Ideal and Klein Auto Strippers are top notch, but you have to size the wire correctly. The generic one's that are supposed to automatically size the wire as well, have been pretty subpar in my experience.

I like the Idea stripmaster and an inline one from Mac. I don't know the modle number of the mac, but being inline it can get is some real tight spots.

I bought one of those from lowe's as well, don't like them too much, as they don't always work for wires that have the slick plastic outher skin. I did find that for most wires, they work better if you squeze the handle in a quick motion.

I have a similar one of those, it's made in Germany and it works great for smaller gauge wires.

Romex or Strands (20guage to 10guage), I just use simple diagonal cutter plier.

It takes some skill but it's fast and effective. I used to install alarm and remote start when in HS/college and that's all I used to strip wires. One tool for two purposes.

I have some of the Tool-Aid strippers and love them. For me staying above 12 gauge is easier on them, but have done higher on occasion.

The AUTO strippers are great if you have enough wire for it to pull on. But if you just have a little bit of wire sticking out that you need to strip, you can't use them. I prefer the manual strippers with the strip dies in the front.

I have HF ones that look a good bit like your second. They worked at first but not kinda don't. Maybe I need to sharpen or adjust them, or get those Kleins recommended above.
