Does anyone know of an mini automatic center punch that does not put to much pressure on the piece (metal) when it actuates?

An engraving tool might work, the type that works like a tattoo gun rather than the one with the mini burr.

Starrett makes a few different models with different punching strengths if you need a lighter punch for softer material. The punch strength on the individual models are also adjustable.

Eclipse in the UK manufactures two different automatic center punches, one with a heavy punch strength, the other with a light punch strength, both models also have a variable punch pressure.

Racodon of France manufacturers about ten different automatic punch models. Some have different body diameters, and I presume punch strengths but the catolog I have doesn't have a whole lot of information. I'm not sure where you would find the Racodon punches, but they may manufacture a couple punch models that Facom sells. The Facom models seem to be regarded well.

Bumping this to mention NOT buying the General center punch. The tips are replaceable, which is all fine and great - but you will need to replace it after a few uses - they just don't last.

I had one that was older than me an it's just worn out. I've been in the market (since I tried the worthless General punch without doing my homework) and I think I'm going to go with one that's mentioned above.

Harbor freight works pretty good I have two of them. Sometimes though it doesn't punch and then you have to do it again, not bad for a couple of bucks
