Anyone know how to make the garage lights go on with the garage opener, using a relay, and STAY on after the garage light goes out?

Google Motion Switch, most will have a time delay. If the garage door is in view of the switch it should kick the lights on when the door moves and leave them on until after the motion stops as set by the time delay, generally up to 20min

yep. but you need to get a contact closure out of the garage door opener or tap into the circuit supplying the light in the opener. ill try to draw up a schematic later.

Isn't that what wifes are for?

Use a DPDT relay....when the garage lights go on it energizes the relay...the other set of contacts will then keep the relay energized....to turn off, you hit a button that is wired normally closed....when you hit the button it opens the circuit and allows the relay to de-energize.

The wife is cheaper and more flexible....

Actually I set up a a room occupancy detector that's pretty sensetive. From the back of the garage, I pointed one at the door and one at the side door. I used some left over Watt stopper sensors from work that work great. They are ceiling mount and can be as sensative as you want. I spend quite a bit of time in the garage and have never had to wave my hands to keep them on. They stay on about 10 min after I leave but that can be adjusted. They are what's typically used in office buildings. Both sensors parallel one power pack. I can post some pics if you are interested.

Thanks for the suggestions!! And about the wife being cheaper.... you have never seen my wife on a shopping spree! My problem has been solved!
