Automatic voltage/hz switch?

I found a 20kw PTO generator for $350. It's a nice one - 1800RPM with nice heavy duty alternator and transmission. I have always been concerned about PTO generators though, in case the tractor RPM should for some reason drop (the tractor is new so not as concerned as on my Kubota with 4400 hours) or something should happen that the power output is suddenly incorrect.

Is there a pre-made switch (contractor + electronics I am assuming) that measures the voltage and frequency, and only completes the circuit if they're within a certain range? So if something should happen it would immediately disconnect?

No, this is an issue with all non inverter type generators. There's always slight variation in voltage, frequency and waveform. The more you spend the better it will be.

That's why I wouldn't plug anything with a circuit board into a non inverter type generator.

Unfortunately for the rest of the world, a 20-2500KW inverter generator is not practical. Nearly 100% of the power to your home, business, etc. comes via an alternator-based generator.

What are u powering with this PTO generator?

Have u thought of getting some voltage regulators to protect electronics?

I use these and have 4 of them in my house. Yes the capacity is low(10a) but for low power electronics thats not an issue.

If u need more capacity tripp lite makes a 1800w(15a) and a 2400w(20a) AVR. For some reason the tripp lite LC1200 (10a) unit is double the cost of the apc LE1200 avr.

which has equipment and conditioners that regulate the output as well as regulators in the substation that connects to the distribution equipment which connects to your house.

That's what an automatic transfer switch does / Is for. Only It can't start your tractor.

IT would have to be modified or you would have to use an older relay style.

They make relays that sense frequency and or voltage (look at 'Time-Mark'). But for immediate disconnect from the power source you would need the older style transfer switch and a electrician/tech.

I would only power household devices that would function within the expected range. Lots of farmers have done it and still do today.

I would use a Bender VME420 or similar voltage and frequency relay in series with the excitation circuit of the generator as a load dump control. Supply it with external power from a small battery.
