Well im looking into Estimating programs. I'm just starting to get the shop open, and im looking for something easy to use, and cheap, I know I know you get what you pay for, but ill invest in good program down the road.
I was looking at this http://www.autoshopwiz.com/default.aspx but if its going to be a big issue i just start out hand writing invoices and be done with it..

anyone else have a cheap program they have used

i dont know much about mechanical estimating programs... i know i have heard of all data before. if you arent looking at spending to much money why dont you just use an excel sheet that you can add your logo onto and add some formulas to do your calcuations for you. just something to start with until you are ready to purchase the bigger programs.

I made my own with a software kit. I was able to install my logo and enter my own format. As far as time and markup, estimates are based on 33% parts mark up over my jobber cost, and I reference book time, but keep track of my time due to the job circumstances and charge fairly.
