Don’t see anything recent on this…. Any ideas for a scan tool I can use on obd2 and interface with my 4x4 system? Need to trouble shoot 2017 Colorado z71 giving ”service 4wd” Message. I assume anything that reads those codes will be able to read engine codes and reset CEL if needed.
other vehicle is 2015 RegalGS but I assume that shouldn’t be an issue. Then its back to mid 80s Buicks but those are already covered

Couple recent threads on this. Generally I'd look at getting an Autel MX808 or MX900 from AESWave. If you want to use your phone instead of a dedicated tablet maybe check out the TOPDON TopScan Pro from AESWave.

If would look at Bluedriver - it has the capability to read codes on systems other than engine depending on the vehicle - HVAC, Trans, ABS, SRS. Check their website regarding capability for your particular vehicle.

For bigger non SO tools, I have read that Autel is better for US/Asian cars and Launch is better for Euro cars. I haven't been in the market for a LONG time since I got my Autel DS108 many years ago, and it has done everything I needed to do so far since I'm not a pro.

I know many newer tools tend to actually license either the Autel or Launch OS as well.

I did buy a Launch crp129 (or something like that) a couple of years ago for something quicker/simpler, and it couldn't even connect to my wife's Prius. I then read other reviews that said the same and that it was "not compatible with hybrids (whatever THAT indicates), yet I have read reviews that claimed it worked fine with their Prius (may have been fake). It connected fine with my Tacoma, but I just returned it.

The software may have also been updated since, and the Autel never had a problem with the Prius. I also have the BluDriver which has worked for everything I've tried it with no problem - but I keep misplacing the dongle.
