Automotive workshop and the projects inside

A little about myself. I started a business a few years ago on the near west side of Chicago. Small scale operation. Early on it was hard as we were tripping over stuff and making do with what we had. But we were able to scale it up. Here are some pics of the workshop. (it is messy but we are getting organized slowly.

We have a lot of big long term projects that require a lot of space, so it is a constant struggle. Always looking for organization ideas. Thanks for the input.

Beautiful shop and a lot of high dollar machines. Your shop is a hospital room compared to mine... :)

For a small scale operation you appear to have some upscale clients. Nice shop!

I picked up this parts washer yesterday. Snap-on Pbc42b. It is really going to help a lot. We do a lot of porsche engine reseals. It is pretty cool, heated to 135f and it sprays at 500psi. Really makes a difference in pre-cleaning parts before they go into the ultra sonic cleaner.

Automotive Workshop

Very tidy shop , I especially like the storage shelving.

Thank you. It's all Lista stuff. We still have to finish the tops in stainless and build a back wall in stainless. Going to finish it out with LED lighting and power strips for wiring stations.
So much to finish but never seem to have the time or energy to do it. Frustrating lol

Made an engine stand. Turned out pretty sweet I think. Certainly will hold it properly.

Also picked up another underhood service cart. Love these.

Re: Automotive Workshop

I really like your style
Are you doing body work as well as mechanical?
A Shop that is bright and clean is a pleasure to work in.
I had a bodyshop in L.A. that we kept spotless and the work came out the same due to the pride that comes from working in that environment
Great job

Re: Automotive Workshop

awesome space.

Did you start out in this shop? What is your forte?

Porsche/Lambo/Ferrari. But mainly Porsche.

Only mechanical/Fab. Thank you! All high end clients so you are forced to keep it clean and tidy, which is a good thing. Also helps with efficiency.

No bodywork it is all outsourced. I can't even imagine trying to keep a body shop clean! Need a whole staff just for that!

How do you like the floor? I'm about to build a 60x40 fab shop and am trying to figure out what finish to go with. I'm leaning towards yours.

Personally I like it. If you spill something you have to clean it up right away or it will soak into the floor, but that is the only drawback. I wanted to do epoxy of course but it was north of 15g's and at the time with the build out I just couldn't afford it. This finish is nice, especially because it is durable and we don't have to worry about it. Just keep it clean.

Re: Automotive Workshop

Gotta respect a shop that outfit their workspace with Lista cabinets or similar. I think it speaks a lot about productivity and service.

Re: Automotive Workshop

Very nice shop you have.

I am assuming your shop is located in an industrial area and not residential, correct?

I had the pleasure of visiting your shop back in February and it is outstanding. I like the new organizing racks.

Blown away by your shop and how clean and organized it is. I will certainly have you work on my car before the dealership. Plus your only 10 minutes from my house.

Cool project we just finished up in the workshop. Superleggera we finished up. What a PITA. Customer brought the car with body work from the next generation car to fit. Basically had to start from scratch.

Cool thing is we made a 5' screen for the rear bumper. Turned out ok.

Before the screen got coated.

Also made custom tips and screens around those as well.

As well as screens for the nose. We make a lot of these for the Porsche chassis as well.

I'm really impressed with the custom screens. I'm interested in the way you made the nose grilles. Any info would be awesome

This corner of the workshop was a disaster. Different tables and such. Made a 14' counter space area out of butcher block. d93bb0924edb979f51dbba2564edd41f.jpg4ebbb655ccad82eb5ef6f8882b63434a.jpg

Going to try and finish it this weekend before work starts Monday
