anybody have one thinking of buying one. anybody recommend a well made engine stand that uses thick tubing. I saw some old threads of usa made stands but a lot of links are dead outdated information what is new for 2014.
Does anybody know someone in Houston TX that can make one that would be able to hold big blocks with out the steel bending?

What is the weight, and are you going to use it a lot or not? Harbor freight (Atleast up here) sells a ton of different size engine stands, one is rated for up to 4,000 lbs so i assume it would hold a big block.

Dang, that's a hard call! do you have tools to make your own? we've welded metal pipes into a square and set a loaded cherry picker over it and welded on motor mounts before, it looked like **** but gave full access to the motor. (I only recommend this to a professional, we had a professional welder / machinist helping with this project. {don't think you're and idiot, but i don't want you to hurt yourself either})

I have a variation of this engine stand.

It works very well and will hold a 7.3 ford diesel no problem.

You can fold it up as well. It is not this brand, but I think they are all made in the same place, just the stickers are changed.

Well I'm going to try this and not time out!
bought one from a Good online parts place, and it was junk! 200$ and bad!

so wing ding dan in Idontcrapistan the customer service rep was no help. So I looked on their website looked for the email of the owner of the place. With in an hour our money was returned and a apology from the owner. A wing ding dong was calling to see if he could help. I don't know if they move CS back to the US or not.
But I cut up the ****, went to the local steel place got some pipe and tube for 40-50$ made this I did re-weld and beef up most of the other welds, it was terrible! We did have to make new bolt flange adapters, it was good to teach the boy some basic blacksmith skills, somewhere I have pics.

I think it is 4" square tube, 4" round and 3.5" round for the head

1,500lb Auto twirler stand
Apparently, steel tubing, 5 year warranty, and made in indiana

was thinking of buying something like that but the problem is you cant turn the engine around to work on the bottom you have to take it off and flip it. If I cant find some one to make me a heavy duty engine stand in Houston TX iam going to buy the autotwirler engine stand . I was Looking at the CM engine stand but like always the shipping makes the buy real sour unlike summitracing that offers free shipping

I was also thinking of doing that to my china made engine stand its the 750lb version and it cant even handle a bare ls block with out the engine stand looking like its going to bend
