So I got to thinking about my avatar after a post was made concerning the ****** nature of mine. Is it offensive to the lady's here or guys? Should it come down? I admire anything with graceful lines...cars, tools and women, but don't want to offend.

In the car world **** girls and **** rides always went hand in hand.

Let me know.

people with non-g-rated avatars frequently cause me to not read their posts, since I read and post on this forum frequently at work, and don't want photos like that visible should someone walk into my office. I either scroll past them or close the thread and make a mental note to read it later, which I never remember to do.

But I'm not mad about it. People can do whatever they want.

Yeah I do the same. It doesn't bother me at all but I do strategically scroll so they are as non visible as possible. I work in a huge open work area and walk around all day with my laptop so there's really no preventing people from seeing my screen all the time. I am rarely at my actual desk.

I see nothing wrong with a nice pinup type or model type photo but a couple over time pushed it more than most. Don't remember who and don't care.

I'll admit can be a little awkward when the girlfriend glances over and it looks like a forum of scantily clad women I'm conversing with, lol.

life is too short for me to care what internet strangers think about the little picture to the left of what I have to say

If you had an avatar of puppies pulling kittens in a wagon through a field of daisies, someone would be offended by it. I say use whatever you like, if its inappropriate, the mods can pull it. Otherwise I'd not care about what the rest of us think.

Most if not all Garages I have been in have a tool Calendar full of Woman with hardly any cloths on at all. So I am thinking it is not a big deal here to do the same with an avatar.

Like Jeremy said some one will be offended by just about anything.

If your truly concerned you can go to your control panel and under setting & options, edit options and scroll down you have the option of turning OFF avatars. Then you will not offend those around you.

Me, I like the avatars of most here but I've blocked a couple of members for their avatars. Just to many great members here to suffer through the dregs. I've found that those with offensive avatars are usually the same.

My last garage, which is still intact, is covered with SI calendar girls. Some just wearing paint.
If **** women offend you, you are doing it wrong

some people need to stop sticking their nose where it doesn't belong and mind their own business.

Don't like it? Don't look.....

This is one area which I certainly think the PC police have gone too far. When I visited Italy there was R rated beef cake & cheese cake all over the place in different manufacturing facilities. Everyone shared & everyone enjoyed.

An avatar is a stand in for your real self when your real self can't be there.
It should reflect you and your essence, not some unobtainable Boobjob Betty.
I like cheesecake just fine.
I do not like that people don't know what the hell an avatar represents to those of us who do know what an avatar represents. Some of you just look foolish by posting unobtainables of all sorts.

As long as it's kept PG-13 I think we're all fine, per the rules. Personally, I don't care if it's ***, people can put whatever they want.

I hardly look at the avatars, so I really don't care what people choose - it's their choice anyway, not mine. Sometimes I don't have a clue what the avatar is about. :dunno:
I go to GJ to read what people have posted, check out the pix, and learn something new (or old). I like to learn something new every day!

I Have the avatars disabled--it's a site option. I am on here at work so some of them, pG or not, are pretty risqué...I appreciate them, but just not at work. so be as **** as you want, just turn the feature off if it bothers you or your co-workers..easy peasy...

Can we ask for a control panel option to make all avatars push the PG envelope? How about a feature request for ascii art avatars?
