This looks great so far. I can understand about the plywood at the bottom of the building. That's a good idea. Good luck.

Thats just for water/moisture? I was wondering about that when I saw the pic.

Is it PT? It doesnt look like it, but in my mind I am thinking it should be.

I believe he stated it was treated plywood in an earlier post. A great idea for the bottom plywood course if you're going the OSB route.

Put in a new 4 wire service entrance cable and a meter/main combo on the house today. The meter/main had to be done to get power to the garage and it will house the garage main breaker. I will finish the conduit to the garage tomorrow.

Buddy Mike working on the meter/main:

All done, inspection passed and ready for SCE&G to turn the power back on:

Meter is in! Finally, after 3.5 hours of phone calls...

Special thanks to my Uncle Dan in FL for getting me the great pricing on QO equipment! (James O. Morton Electric, Englewood) and to Jody Anderson of JP Anderson Well & Pump, Charleston, SC for digging my trench.

Well, we poured 3 loads of concrete for the driveway this week. My concrete guy has a small crew and rain was threatening daily, so we only poured one load a day.

Monday we finished grading and formed the sections to pour on Tuesday. Due to the slope of my yard, I ended up with my turnout behind the sunroom ~1' above grade (ugh). So I picked up some 2x12's and we made a small footing for that area. In the long run it won't matter, because I will be separating the driveway from the back yard with a fence.

First pour (Tues)

Yeah, I know I need window wrap. I ran out, it will be on before siding.

Second pour (Wed)

3rd pour (Thurs)

Today (Fri) we demoed the old pitchpatched side driveway and got most of the forming and grading done to go out to the street.

And some pictures of the finished back driveway:

Got the fence down on the right side of my property today. Broke off the posts and had to yank the chain link fence wire out with my truck because it was so overgrown with Asiatic Jasmine, as you can see in the second to last picture of my last post.

Then I chopped out all of the Jasmine with an old "serrated edge weedcutter(?)" I found in the shed. Almost killed myself with that damn tool in the heat, was sweating so much it looked like I jumped in a pool with my clothes on. But its done and looks a lot better.

Offending tool (actually works well)

When can I come see this gayrage?

Anytime! You can get those jackstands too

I would have thought you would paint all the edges before installing the roofing, so much easier and faster, and before drip flash... ?

That is a 2x4 sub-fascia, it will be covered with a white aluminum fascia.

I will bet you kids LOVE the new big driveway... The whole job sure looks great!

They do love it! Thanks!

Great driveway, I love concrete

Thanks, concrete rules!

Great looking garage. I'm super jealous of the all concrete driveway. I have one question though, Do you have phone service? If so, I would mount the phone box back on the wall before it feels up with water and corrodes the NID creating unwanted phone trouble.

Thanks!

There is another phone (uverse) box mounted to the left of the picture. That old box is gone now.

Love the garage! I'm getting ready to add on to my existing garage and was wondering if you could give me the name of your concrete guy? Looks like they do some great work!

Thanks,

so what would you say is the total cost involved, I think it looks AWESOME, but I have HOA restrictions and brick is the only option I have, I"m on the board trying to get it changed as we have alot of motorheads in our subdivision that want shops also, but the cost of brick is usually the deal breaker.

With doors I will be ~$35k including driveway (40yds) and site work. I did a lot myself and with cheap help. That doesn't include insulation/sheetrock/hvac either. This hasn't been a low cost venture.

I used sikaflex sl in the control joints and acid etched the floor before the sealer. Everything was pretty quick and easy, except for the acid etch.
