So, if you do not work at a shop, it can be a pain to find a Mac or Snap-On dealer.
Seems like the corporate office does not know the routes or helpful in getting you in touch. We need a thread about awesome drivers/trucks and typical location, plus if you see a promo online it would be a nice way to find one with a close dealer.

Well I do not live in North Mississippi, but would like to know if a 28ft Mac truck has a route near me. T&K Tools 662 312-3739 N. Mississippi

We have tool of Japan that is almost 300 pages, so why not a huge thread of tool trucks and awesome drivers. Plus if you really like the dealer share and a pic or two from inside of the truck would be nice.

I have occasionally wondered and now is as good a time as any to ask... since the tool trucks are independent franchises (?) Does the driver have a say in exchanging a tool?? Meaning if you literally used your ratchet as a hammer and beat it to pieces is it covered?

had a nice Snap-on guy 5-6 years ago that I met up with from time to time when he was near the manufacturing company I worked at.

We are currently tool truck rich where I work,we get Snappy,Matco,Cornwell and Mac.
For the longest time we only had Snapon but as newer franchise owners have trickled in they started coming by weekly.

You can buy from their websites. I've bought from MAC, Matco, and Snap-On. Customer service is quite good. I had a little trouble with the MAC site, but their customer service rep went out of her way to figure it out and call me back several hours later for what she knew was only a $100 sale.

I think having an account on their sites also helps on the goodwill front. Snap-On went out of their way to get me parts for a 1978 24" breaker bar that a good friend gave me.

I suspect the "tool truck guys" know and appreciate that a sale is a sale.... but at some point, I gotta imagine that dealing with the masses isn't worth it.

I agree with they, the truck owners, might not want to deal with the "common" man. Might not be enough profits in it for them to have to deal with the general public and the possible bs that comes with it.

I'd say drive around and try to catch one at one of their stops. Talk with them and let them know you are interested in their tools and would it be okay if you met them at that location from now on. It might not be worth it to them to drive ** miles out of the way if you only buy $200-$500 worth of tools every few months vs they can hit one stop and see 10+ guys at one time.

LOL, I think I spend way too much on tools, my Snap-On driver has made my house part of his Monday route. My MAC guy will swing by too if I need him. If I need Matco, I'll text him and meet him when he's at a shop near me. Point being of all this, is that tool truck drivers are trying to sell tools and make a living. Don't waste their time, be respectful, and you'll be surprised at what they'll do for you.

My dealer would be pissed at me if I did that. I am able to go on his truck use the computer check for parts, order what I want while he works with other customers. I have seen the non regular customer be lost on the truck and just waste his time.
If you cultivate a relationship with a dealer don't fill his truck up with wana be truck tool buyers you will be left out.

Must be an awesome shop if you can drink beer there lol [emoji23]. At my shop it’s not allowed and if they catch you with it automatic termination. Most of the guys at my shop aren’t 21 anyway so that’s probably some of the reason too.

I think you get into privacy issues, the phone number on the side of the van is somebody's
personal cell phone and the van is usually parked at a family residence.

Not sure if most dealers want their name and phone number on a world wide tool forum. Especially when some people consider Snap-on and the way they sell tools almost evil

The snap on uk website has a 'Find a Franchisee' page. It gives you the name and phone number for local trucks. They have been happy to meet up with me for one off purchases. After 1 min on the phone you get a feel for if they want to sell to you or not and how friendly they are. Not sure if there is a US equivalent website.

They do have that feature on the US Snap on site but it leads to a phone number to call between 7 to 7

UK gives you a name and mobile number to ring them directly, assumed it would be the same in the US. :dunno:

I easly spend 1500 to 2000 a year in tools and i gotta say that if some jerkoff doesnt want my pathetically small amount of business i will gladly take it to someone who would... 500 for a set of screwdrivers may not be much to you but to most of America thats like 2 fukn car payments..and to have some ****** tell me hey buddy.. maybe if theres 10 of you ill waste my time on ya... care to guess what i say to him?? Christ what happened to this country
