I've had good luck with the Husky LED work lights. I own this one here and it is a beast and turns night into day and doesn't get hot where it will burn you like the old halogen things.

I was working in my garage painting and other stuff using the lights below and a cordless would not have worked out. I was working in there with the light on from 7 AM to 10 PM and that is where corded is needed over cordless. Camping I have a cordless to use when I first get to the site for setup and it outshines corded for that use. Nice to have both corded and cordless for different uses.

LED is SO nice! I worked with those reel lights with incandescent lights for years and what a PITA. Hot, dim, and just bump them and the bulb blows! Same with those halogen work lights. Knock one over there goes that bulb. I could retire on what I spent on bulbs in my younger days.

Appreciate you sharing the link!

You know, I didn't say anything about not liking cords, nor was I looking for some sort of guarantee about it not melting things, I only asked for your experience......
So you got even more than you asked for----you got your answer, plus my own reasons for buying it as well, which I am free to share, and which should also help others who may be looking for a similar light.

Because of this post I have Two (2) of these Husky LED work lights. They’re great!
They’re cool to operate in confined areas. Some guys like corded(me) and some think battery power is the greatest thing since sliced bread.(I have some battery tools) I for one come from a land where battery technology was not nearly as reliable as it is today. Some habits are hard to break.
Thanks for the post! Let’s hope Home Depot sees your post and sends along an “attaboy!”

People are still buying plug in drop lights? C'mon man this is 2021 we have lithium batteries now and there very cheap.
People sure are buying them. Buying NO batteries is even cheaper. Plus I don't have to mess around with remembering to remove and replace batteries in the light and in the charger since it's 2021.

I seriously have thought about rechargeable, but I would need a couple batteries, or multiple lights so when the battery dies in the middle of the project I cam keep going. I suppose I could just use my corded light then, or just use it from the start. I start shopping, then realize this is going to cost a few dollars and give up and just use my corded light.

I have a light on a cord real I have had for years. It was a fluorescent, but and occasional drop would break the bulb. I shopped around and found a high quality LED light, took the light apart and mounted the head on my existing cord reel.

This got me thinking. I had a Ridgid cordless drill and driver set. I looked a couple years ago but didn't find what I wanted, but I looked again and I think I will buy this, Ridgid work light

I clicked the link in the OP and found the light is priced at $2597. Is the decimal point missing on that web page or is it really that good?

After clicking on the HD link to see the light being reviewed, I came back to the post to check the date. Thinking I was reading a 20yr old review. But I am glad you found a light that you are happy with and fills your needs.

Bout 4 years ago I moved into my current house with shop and I went as far to wire a receptacle in the ceiling for a retractable drop light. I have not used the darn thing since I turned it on to make sure it worked after install.

As far as rechargeable LED lights, I use a headlamp 90% of the time I am in the shop under a car. No cords on the floor, no trying to find a place to hook the light, no fighting to keep it in a useable position and no way for it to blind me.
18650 LiIon cells... 4 bay charger with 3 charged batts on standby and no waiting. One cell lasts over 6 hours in my headlamp.

Years ago I put an outlet in the ceiling of my garage. One for a cord reel light, the other for a cord reel extension cord. I use them all the time. One thing really nice about them. I am getting old and I don't need to figure out where I laid the light down last!:ROFLMAO:

Found these today at Costco, on sale. Local price was $30 for a pair ($10 off). They're USB rechargeable (packed with two cords), good light output with adjustable levels, and a decent magnet in the handle.

I saw these at HD the other day and they looked pretty good. I have several cordless lights, but need a new corded one for those hour long projects where you forget to turn them off when you take a break. Not that I would ever be guilty of such an offense.

If you had actually looked at the link to HD's page that I posted, you'd have noticed that the '25' is much larger than the '97'------this represents the dollar amount. (see clip from actual ad below) The next 2 smaller numbers represent the amount of cents. This is just one of several ways we've been writing out dollars and cents here in America for centuries. If all the numbers (both dollars and cents) were the same size, then a decimal point would be needed, as you so ably pointed out, but since Home Depot posted the price using number height as the distinguishing feature between dollars and cents, no decimal point is needed or used. And yes, the light is really that good, but it's not that expensive. :S1629903868488.png

What part of "I clicked the link in the OP" lead you to believe that I did not click the link?
I looked at the html code on that page and found that HD uses a font style called "price-format__large-symbols" to print the cents. For some reason the style sheet was not loading on the day I looked, and the 2 digits for the dollars was the same size font as the 2 digits for the cents. Thanks for clearing this up, and thanks for the education lesson on American price postings.

I took a picture of my iPad so you could see what I see. Apparently Home Depot has stopped fully supporting the Safari web browser?? I rarely go to the Home Depot website, so was unaware of this issue until you helped me see it. - ThanksIMG_7002.jpg

It appears to be a decent light, but after switching to cordless I don't miss dragging the cord around and cleaning the cord all the time
Small cordless lights are easy to clean and don't get interiors dirty when working on the inside of cars.

Maybe the poor guy writes ad copy for a living?
Excuse me???? This is a 'garage forum', correct? Last I checked, guys would gather here to learn from others experiences with all things garage-related. If you aren't interested in a work light review, move on----it's really that simple.
