Would anyone happen to know what size the front axle nut is on a 4x4 1997 Chevy S10? I think its 36mm, but unfortunately my 36mm socket isn't deep enough to make contact. My 34mm is, but it doesn't quit fit. I've read online that its either 35 or 36mm, but want to be sure before I go buy another socket!

Also, any thoughts on using 1/2" sockets/breakers at this size? Or should I be upgrading to 3/4" stuff?

i use an 1 7/16" cuz i have one, i believe 36MM is correct. i use 1/2 drive, but i have had to bust loose rusted nuts with a 3/4" gun a couple times

BTW jeep dana front axle uses the same size socket. quadtrac sell the socket for around $10

I have a 2000 S10 4x4. I use a 36mm 1/2 drive impact socket for the front axle nut without problems.
