AZ garage build thread 30x50

Just getting started on my garage. Last weekend we got the trusses up. I am doing as much of the build myself(tons of help with family and friends). I have never done any of this kind of work before but am looking forward to learning a new skill. Follow along and chime in with tips as I go along.

Yes the heat is going to slow us down. Took a long time for the architech and engineer to work together for the permit. Set me behind schedule.

There will always be delays and scheduling issues with subs, just have to make the best of it and enjoy the ride. Good luck post lots of pics.

Update: We have been working hard this summer but making good progress. Only working on Saturdays mostly.

Passed sheathing and strap inspections yesterday! Feels good to be moving ahead. Finished framing out bathroom also.

Mono pour slab 4” thick. Not insulated yet. My Dad supplied fork lift from work, saved the day for sure.

Looking very nice! I am finishing a 24X30x12 shop/garage. Acting as the GC, so understand the heartburn concerning delays. Just keep on keeping on, it will come together sooner or later. By the way, I see the saguaro, so you must be in Southern Arizona, are you near Tucson? Tucson is where I hang my hat. God bless.

Roof done! Foam and wire on. Inspection this week for stucco. Making progress, hope temperature is done being extremely hot.

Very nice, looking forward to some pics with vehicles in the garage. I would like to build a 28x48 and am wondering if I will end up with the amount of room I believe I will have. Seems difficult to find shops about this size with doors on the narrow end.

Started electrical this last weekend. Thanks to my Uncle for the help. Also starting plumbing this week. Making progress, happy the weather has turned.

Garage update. Passed rough plumbing and electrical inspections. Stucco finished and ran and tested pex. Gearing up for interior walls to be finished. Looking at different options. Anyone have pictures of a Truwood panels for interior? Thinking corregated for bottom 4 feet then Truwood above that.

Looking mighty fine right now! I can't weigh in on the interior walls because the only thing that I know is stucco because of the CBS construction here. I would most likely use plain old drywall with a hardy board wainscoting if you need something tough on the lower walls...

Here is what I decided on to the interior. Bottom 48” will be corregated steel, then the rest in Truwood.

Had three quotes, he was the only one that came with samples and he also spent the most time talking out options. I believe I not only got the best price but the best quality door . I would 100% recommended him.
