B pipe venting Canada

Looking to hook up my Reznor 75K BTU heater w/power vent, asked one plumber if I could use galvanized B vent to vent direct outside the wall(horizontal) he said yes, asked another and he said one if you are venting up through the roof..if horizontal the new code calls for stainless steel..Is this true?

Located in Alberta,Canada BTW.

Not sure if it's code or bylaw... where are you located? My brother is in Edmonton and got told this too about the stainless for side venting.

I can confirm this. New code says horizontal runs must be stainless. You can get stainless B-vent but it's not cheap.

However, most areas take a few years to adapt the latest national codes.

Best thing to do would be to ask your inspector about this. Might be a good idea to use stainless anyway tho, I'm sure they changed the code for a reason.
