BA Fab Barn thread

We'll folks, the wife and I are officially under contract on my next shop (there's a house and stuff too). Pictures to follow, but it's roughly 40x40 14-16 ft at the top joist and a dirt floor. The sides are mainly constructed from surplus military fiberglass panels. It's something to see!

We close on both houses on March 11th. Hoping to be mostly moved to a storage shed by then

The property looks pretty nice as well. How much property is included in the buy?

3 acres total, going down from 5. The house is much nicer than our previous dwelling, hopefully more time to play outside!

I haven't made much headway besides packing in the shop, but I did get a new blade for my portaband....


I found someone on eBay selling Starrett blades for a reasonable price, so I got one. The weld looks nice, and the packing was good. Hard to beat for less than $10

No new shop pictures, but more packing, a small Bon fire, storage shed acquired, and I brought the trailer home!

It had some serious rust in this jug





But we got it moving!

Thank you for the kind words, the bike sat outside for many years with no carb on it, and an intake valve hangin open.

As views go, that one's pretty good. So what's wrong with that cylinder? Pretty wild engineering on the livestock shed.

Engine was rusted pretty bad, it was stuck and we wouldn't free it without disassembly. Already been punched over, just needs new Pistons, rings, and probably jugs.

I got the paper work from the bank, turns out the barn is 44x40, which normally doesn't make much difference, except that it makes it just a touch bigger than the house!

Everything is still on track to close 3-11, and we started moving my shop....

Congratulations on the move and the new house...That's some wild looking siding on your new garage/barn do you know what it was from originally?

I was told that it's a military surplus fiberglass panel from Desert Storm. On a side note....we close tomorrow!!!

Just an update, we close on the house today!!!! I hate moving, you don't realize how much **** you have until it's packed on a truck, but overall the process has went pretty smooth. I did have some HF ramps bite the dust



But that wasn't the end of the world. We performed the walk through last night and the house is sooo much bigger without the years of stuff in it. It does look like the previous owners are leaving me a pretty interesting stool in the shop



And, the trees are budding!

Cool stool! That's interesting that fiberglass siding on the barn lets light in...

We've been in the house 9 days now, and I got to start cleaning out the Barn/Shop this weekend. The previous owners left a bunch of junk!!! That being said, I did find out what the barn is made out of!!



And we took about 5 loads this size out of it over the last two days



and the last two days have resulted in a burn pit looking something like this



I just started to cut fencing on the property (there's a bunch of it) more pictures to come when than project gets underway.

We got our first bid on concrete for the shop yesterday evening. Can't say that I'm real excited about the price tag on it. Gonna get a few more estimates. First bid was $6,896

Greetings again from mid-Missouri. I will have been at the new residence for three weeks this next Monday. In that time we have started replacing the steps in the house (they were 6.5 x 6.5 rise/run) replaced the: water heater, and dishwasher. And got a 30 x 40 section ready for gravel in the shop. The gravel I wanted showed up today, and I finished the forms this evening. I hope to get everything else done in time to pour on the 23rd.

Thanks guys, I priced putting new trusses/roof in that won't require the center supports, but it's not in today's budget. I haven't compacted the gravel yet, but it looks like we're still on track to pour on the 23rd!

****, forgot to mention that we spread about 6 cubic yards of gravel today! Also got the drain done! Pictures to come on the gravel!

Holy **** DOC! That looks like a whole new place inside with the addition of the crushed lime, Nice work! Its pretty cool that the siding is letting in light, You may have the most unique siding on a build then anyone here

Wow, time flies when you're having fun. sorry about the lack of updates, been BUSY!

We found out that the siding is really flexible.



We applied the vapor barrier and build a rebar grid



Bought a new cordless impact



and poured a 30 x 40 concrete pad!!!


(please note the pad and ramp are still wet at this time, and need to be floated out more)

bought a bandsaw!


4 x 6 el cheapo, needs a motor, but it was $25!

That's pretty much it for now, I did tear the doors off of the barn this week, and I'm working to build a new set out of the doors that were on it, as new roll-up doors aren't in the budget right now. I've never seen a home garage in person with this design, so we'll see what happens!

Well, I haven't posted in over a year, mostly because we had a child, and he take s up a BUNCH of my time, and that's okay. So if you're still reading this i will attempt to bring everyone up to speed as to happenings at BA Fabrication

This is what the shop currently looks like at night. The light filters out of the siding as well as it does in.

I bought an old Atlas Metal Lathe, and am currently trying to find the rest of the slide/saddle assembly so I can get it working
