back to back sub panel and meter

wondering how you guys run the power from the sub to the meter if they are back to back. conduit through the wall or through the ground and foundation. also need to know if the power comes in from the pole buried or from above.

Are you asking if you'll have an underground or overhead utility service? That's between you and your power company.

The answer to your first question is whatever is easiest. Lots of factors can change things, so you need to provide more info. Take some pics.

im not sure on if im getting my new meter powered through the ground or air is why i asked for both types of installation. what info/ are you looking for? install hasnt started. charles is that PVC behind your meter the routing of your power to your subpanel? is it through the slab into a wall and then kicks out a wall there or that conduit is straight into the meter box

really won't matter how the service entrance enters the meter base, UNLESS the local power company has a requirement.

U keep saying sub panel to subpanel and subpanel to meter.

If youre going from your meter straight to the panel on the inside with NO disconnect then the panel is your MAIN SERVICE PANEL and NOT a subpanel...

OP, if you can get buried electrical service, I'd sure go for buried as never have to worry about tree trimming, etc that is hassle with aerial. What do neighbors have?? How far from PoCo lines to your building??

Already have existing power to house?? Aerial or buried??

Also, don't go anything under 200A from PoCo if they'll do it at same price as 100A. Lot easier to start out with 200 so you can subpanel off that for other buildings that might need power later.

Lots of variables . . . . fill in blanks so GJ sparky's can give best advice.

my house is buried service. the shop will be twenty feet in front of the power pole. my house is 20 feet adjacent to the shop location. the power is elevated to the back of my house then underground going to the house. i already have a pool, lean to and full bath shed next to the pool that all have power. im not sure what building i would put up that would require additional power.

Conduit straight back to back. Out of the ground into the meter. Over to the disconnect inside the RH door on the meter panel, and then straight thru to the breaker panel inside.

Ok will u have a disconnect at the meter or just the meter?

If no disconnect then your inside panel will be the MAIN service panel NOT a subpanel... U only need 3 wire going to it from the meter...and dont forget to connect your grounding electrode to the panel...
